Finished Marx's Inferno, 5/5. This is such a great book. A non-fiction book that is a page turner. It also shows how and why Marx was the inheritor of a socialist tradition and the "Virgil" to lead the Proletariat from Hell and Purgatory to the Social Republic. (1/3)

@chaosersong There's a fundamental difference between following the will of the democratic process that DSA goes through and the commands a secret agent is given. If you can't see that and maintain the soundness of your analogy then idk where to go from here.

I CAN'T FUCKING TELL IF PEOPLE KNOW THE REASON WHY MORALES IS UNENDORSED BY RI DSA??? MOTHERFUCKER VOTED TO SUPPORT A MOB BACKED SPEAKER OF RI HOUSE; THAT OF WHICH WAS DEMOCRATICALLY DECIDED (BYLAWS) HE OUGHT NOT TO DO TO MAINTAIN AND RECEIVE ENDORSEMENT FROM RI DSA!!!
J. Ryder🪿@harbingerofwoke

Wasn’t going to chime in on this, but some of the takes here are absolutely ridiculous. Gustavo is an individual, who is allowed to support whomever he wants even when they are not DSA endorsed. Just as Zohran is allowed to endorse Brad Lander without DSA endorsement, yet no one was calling for disciplining him in that moment (and rightly so). This does not undermine the democracy of DSA as it is not an organizational endorsement but a personal one. Further, DSA must realize that as long as it continues to platform and institutionalize its sectarian and abstentionist tendencies, it will force its members (as well as the masses more broadly) to seek other means to do socialism. It is not an individual’s fault that they must go outside DSA in order to do socialism, it’s OUR accountability as an organization to make sure that the path of socialism is 1:1 with the objectives and MO of DSA, and anything less will create reasons to engage other means of organizing to fill that void. We must fill the void left by marginal abstentionism with institutionalized mass politics in DSA or the socialist pole in this country will go on without us.

@chaosersong SO THEY ARE FREE AGENTS!!! You are giving them autonomy to survive in a environment hostile to them, by allowing such autonomy to be just another bourgeoise representative.

@clearlyis Well I don't think they're free agents, I think they are people put into a snake's den that have to do what they need to do to survive while trying to advance the mission. Its up to DSA to be stronger to send support so they don't have to do that anymore

@chaosersong Only 1 is no longer a representative and its because they did not run for a third term. He honors them by not voting for Mob backed speaker of the house in RI. He honors them by maintaining the democratic will of those DSA members in his district who voted for the bylaws.

@clearlyis Aren't two of them out of government now? Kinda seems like they paid the price for going against him. I'm sure Morales paid a price too but survived and realized he needed to play ball. How does he honor thousands of manhours canvassing by losing?

@chaosersong I just don't think your analogy works in this case. If we are to say that our elected SIO's are free agents not bound by the will of DSA and her local chapters then the question is begged, why does DSA exist then? Couldn't these just be independent from DSA SIO's then?

@clearlyis Imagine sending an agent behind enemy lines and then getting upset he is doing whatever he needs to do to survive while waiting for backup lol. The reason he had to endorse was because RI DSA was too weak to send him more support. The solution is to win more

@clearlyis A non binding poll forms a legitimate basis for the illegitimacy of the national political committee if they take a decision counter to the will of the membership.

I just can’t tell if they think a non binding poll equals democracy. It’s like when the teacher asked who wants a pizza party and everyone raised their hands and then there wasn’t a pizza party.
aaron from queens 🇵🇸@aaronnarraph

Tomorrow, the same DSA caucuses that voted to publicly sever ties with AOC are poised to strip 120,000+ DSA members of their right to vote on a candidate for president, and delay an endorsement decision to August 2027. Do we want to lead a socialist presidential campaign or not?

@clearlyis I don't think the NYCDSA bylaws have a specific clause about not voting for jeffries but if RI DSA has a bylaw specifically for Shekarchi then that's just setting Morales up for failure lol. You got someone into office, tied a weight to his leg, and told him to swim lol

@chaosersong Is it A. against the bylaws of NYC-DSA, B. is Zohran a voting member of the house?, C. Is Jeffries connected to the Mob?, D. Abstaining to voting for the speaker of the house or voting for alternative candidate (that is SIO) is a legitimate strategy/tactic.

@clearlyis What’s the difference between this and Zohran saying Jeffries should be speaker? Or if ultimately our electeds vote for him to be speaker after they get concessions

I can't believe Zelenskyy's poisoned Lindsey Graham Ukraine's greatest Ally in the Senate.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

Good meeting with U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham @LindseyGrahamSC in Kyiv. This is already his 10th visit to our country, and we appreciate this support. I'm grateful to Lindsey for recognizing our warriors. The stronger Ukraine is on the battlefield, the greater the chances that diplomacy will ultimately succeed. And right now, it is important that our long-range sanctions pressure on Russia be reinforced through new sanctions steps by our partners. Lindsey briefed me on the work underway in Congress on the relevant bill. We also discussed our urgent air defense needs to protect our people. During the NATO Summit in Ankara, President Trump and I reached political agreements on licensing the production of Patriots in Ukraine. It is now crucial to implement all of this at the team level. I thank the United States, the President, and Congress for bipartisan and consistent support from both chambers.

welcome to our trash revolution
who will be the first SMC or GW member to bravely come forward and admit the coordinated campaign your caucuses are engaged in to accuse SOR and MUG of malfeasance by claiming they’re disregarding convention mandate is at best taking extreme liberties and at worst a complete lie?
welcome to our trash revolution@trash_panda97

my contribution to the discourse: anyone saying convention mandates a 1m1v poll is misinformed or lying the resolution we passed mandates a poll “if a coalition that DSA is a member of decides to endorse a presidential candidate.” no such left-labor coalition even exists atm.

@DeepNotShallow See something I don’t get is she’s in such a safe seat she could functional begin today rn her campaign in the daylight or at least give good institutional hints. ATM from my own perspective her hints ended with her last Fight Oligarchy rally with Bernie last year.

AOC probably should tell folks whether or not she's running for President or Senate so we can figure out an actual plan either way. If AOC or another member of her stature doesn't run, what is going to be the DSA plan for 2028 President? Just sit out?
Roberto 🌹@r0berto_mid_5

I respect the MUG plan, but I think it’s overestimating how many people are actually going to run for DSA’s endorsement. It’s probably just going to be AOC, and people’s opinions will just be oriented around supporting or opposing her

Yes Mike is right that AOC is more known than DSA writ large of the us pop. This does not mean ipso facto we tail AOC. It is undemocratic and nonMarxist of us to do so. If AOC does run it should be a democratic decision that is debated upon by DSA members. Not the showing of hand
Mike from PA@Mike_from_PA

People approach the question of AOC and a Presidential campaign inverted. She is already much more known and popular than our org, she is platforming us, we are USING her to grow the movement. In the absolute best case she wins two terms and is gone, the org and its growth remain
