Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. thetimes.com/article/3fdcd5…

Never has an icon been so ineffective at public relations, keeping up with the times, and competing effectively, while actively alienating customers.

@contourgeek Brand new! Even on its own merits it's an extremely tacky-looking pastiche, before thinking about the ideology behind it.

@ThePhDPlace As an academic, I welcome more people doing PhDs and then following non academic careers. This creates a wider knowledge culture with more people in other fields who have an understanding of what academics do. This improves communication in both directions.

Anonymous Question: “Why do people do a PhD if they don’t want to be an academic? It’s a waste of time in my opinion. Just go get industry experience and stop wasting places.”

How to communicate with a German school as a parent - a tech odyssey thread: - there is an app that duplicates email functions (for Datenschutz reasons I suppose) - no wait actually there are two apps, one for the parents profile and one for the pupil

- forgot to add that many key pieces of communication of course happen solely through paper sheets that the kids bring home from school

@ScotRail here's an idea - prioritise a trolley service on the 05.57 out of Aberdeen. I had to creep out the house at 5am, and the only coffee shop that opens before 6am at the station can't be relied on to open in time. Won't get anything until Edinburgh.

@LNER @BTP 61016 does nothing. Coach C on the 1835 from Waverley to Aberdeen is ful of drunk loud people who think they are entitled to make a racket as if they were in a bar because they are 'celebrating' and it's a Friday. I'm on my commute. Sort it out.

@sharrond62 I suggest that you do some proper reading about 15 minute cities. You don't have stay within that radius, you will just have more choices that are accessible within that timescale without having to drive. It's actually a good thing.

I’m so not up for 15 min communities. It will not work for families with active kids doing all sorts of activities. And whilst the little people get to live confined with little choice those in the WEF fly in their jets & on their yachts telling ‘ the people’ to reduce their lives. Who voted for these globalists?
Wide Awake Media@wideawake_media

"Would you be happy sharing, not owning, a car?" The WEF: "The Netherlands is building a neighbourhood where every car must be shared. There'll be one vehicle for every three homes, and no space for privately owned cars." "Residents will be encouraged to cycle, use public transport, or borrow from a pool of shared cars... And everything that residents need will be within walking distance." So, in response to the WEF's question, WOULD you be happy sharing, not owning, a car? 🤔

@welsh_fi @iwengraf Same problem in Leeds. We also get buses that aren't showing on the tracker turning up. Sometimes I wonder if the tracking system isn't switched on by the driver when they start the route. Also little correlation between timetable, RTPI and app. Guess and wait.

@iwengraf I can understand that for unreliable timings, but does it cause apps to show tracking of buses which never started the route? Bus operators *can* tell these systems when buses are cancelled, so they have a responsibility to provide that info consistently in their apps

What is happening recently with @FirstinGlasgow? Bus service between Broomhill and the uni has always been pretty patchy, but this past week it has completely fallen apart. I have a PhD in Transport Studies but I cannot understand how your 'real time information' is so bad! 🤷‍♀️
