Couple things on Raddysh:
1. $8.5M today is not 1D money today, let alone years from now as the cap goes up. I have no issue with the AAV.
2. He definitely didn’t randomly become good last year. His analytics and micro stats point to a player who has been good for a while.

Babcock has not won a single playoff round since 2013. I don’t particularly give a shit about the one Stanley Cup he won – in nearly 20 years of coaching – on a team full of HOFers two decades ago. And that’s just the on-ice stuff.

@NHL_Sid Babcock would be by far the most accomplished + successful coach the Oilers have hired in decades, without question. The thought process is hiring a coach who knows how to win with a team ready to win, & Babcock fits that bill.

@ejmichele I dont think any player is going to sign a contract of more than 1-2 years if they're strictly looking yo win. And if so why do no superstars want to go to carolina? They have been very good for years and are so close to getting over that last hurdle

Random McDavid musings: on the one hand if he’s leaving, Edmonton has to get the most out of him by trading him to a place where he’ll extend. But if you’re McDavid and you’re leaving bc you want to win, you’d be foolish to allow the Oilers to pull assets way from that team.

This was the play, just four games into the season, that made the entire league make up their mind on Oilers Evan Bouchard.
It kept him off Team Canada and will keep him from winning the Norris Trophy.
Since that game, Bouchard has put up 20 goals and 67 assists for 87 points 👀

in my eyes, to be generational, Celebrini has to become the best player in the world, simple as that. that's the bar. it's a ridiculously high bar, and he can have an all time great career even without clearing it - plenty have
