Compared to WHL comparables from DY+0 (draft season) to DY+2,which is three WHL seasons, he outpaced Point, Eberle, and Gallagher in points/game EACH season. He alsooutproduced them all in goals/game in DY+2. These players all entered the NHL in DY+3 and produced 40, 43, and 28 points. None returned to the minors after this. Only Reinhart made it to the NHL before DY+2. These are also good physical comparables, at similar height and weight to Savoie's 5'9 and 180 pounds. Once he adjusts, Savoie can help this #LetsGoOilers team win from now on.

I quite disagree. My 2 cents. The rewriting of history going on with Kulak this season is out of control after that round winning goal imo. Kulak had some god-awful stats this season in a ~2nd line role. He has been about even in a bigger role this playoffs with better teammates + higher comp, which is solid. He's a real wildcard moving forward. His footspeed is significantly decreased this year. He may have played himself into a more team-friendly contract in the regular season than what may have been 4+ x4, but is playing into a larger contract again now in the early playoff rounds. Kulak was a good top 4 stopgap with Oilers too in early playoff rounds -- but he always sucked in the later playoffs, particularly Round 4 twice vs FLA. That's why I was team "Keep Broberg" before, and am now team "Get Zellweger or Similar". Kulak has limitations and they are seemingly growing with age. He was never irreplaceable and Walman is a better puck mover, skater as Kulak ages, and big-game top 4 player, even with a cap hit that will be 2x Kulak's. We'll see how Rounds 3 and 4 go for Kulak too.

Yeah, it was weird, his EDGE skating stats really just dropped off this season, but there was enough evidence he wouldn't be the Top 4 LD full enough time that he was trending to be paid as in Edmonton, so I think most of us saw the writing on the wall. Especially with aging Ekholm staying in a larger role, and despite the context that he was moved in a highly controversial trade package

Similar with how people like Dom L I believe it was, said Jarry was actually pretty good in PIT earlier this year. He fell off around when he started vs PIT with EDM. (And apparently top management forced Bowman to make a goalie trade per some people I know who have posted this info publicly)

There are only three defensemen in the world (Q. Hughes, Makar, Werenski) that I’d be confident are better than L. Hutson at this point. I think you could make a case for his impact vs. any of Heiskanen, Seider, Sanderson, Bouchard, Dahlin, McAvoy, etc. Superstar.

@Josephk90 Oof. Schmidt then Carlson would be insane adds in contending years by Vegas for instant depth. Schmidt has been such an insanely good depth D for playoff teams. Carlson staying better than Burns did at his old age

1) Neither Howard nor, in particular, Savoie are "Yamamoto's", both much stalkier and more skilled. 2) Hutson is 3 tiers below Howard - Hutson is a tweener whereas Howard is a legit top 6 propsect 3) 100% room for both Howard and Savoie - Howard is replacing Roslovic

@flames_825 @vanceinla He definitely can command a room and drive guys to play hard. His 5v5 xG maps were quite good in 2/3 recent years per Micah McCurdy. Has to be better than Brube still lol

Abaolutely. Hmmm. I wonder what happens then, since there's a player needing a chance there. I had wondered about trying to move Emberson (or not signing Murphy) as part of a return for a true top 4 quality RD, or a young forward RFA, but it sounds like they seek a young LD in trade instead.

@TheLineBlender I know, Regula was asked to come back from injury and play 2RD with an inconsistent Nurse and it didn't go well. I think he could thrive in a 3RD role with consistent reps but that spot is taken (and Emberson is needed for goal prevention and PK).
