Now that I've settled in a bit more with using and connecting with people on 𝕏, I figured I should post a proper (but brief) introduction: • My name is Dustin. • I graduated with a masters degree in Chemistry. • Worked in tech for 6+ years as a: 📈 Product/Data Analyst (experimentation, stats, etc) 🌐 Web Developer (fullstack) 🤖 Data Scientist (training LLM encoder foundation models) After doing lots of Asian Boy Thinking™, I quit my job earlier this year to try and build something of my very own. 244 days ago, I quit my full time job to travel, search for meaning, and take more risks in life. Fast forward to today, I have, among other things: 🐎 Traversed the plains of Mongolia, staying with nomadic families and riding horseback through the taiga. 🍄 Survived a very bad case of food poisoning in Yunnan, China (be careful with the mushroom hotpot) 🏢 Incorporated a company to house my various projects and ideas 🕯️ Built and launched petapetual.com, my first go at an online memorial app (I learned so much about the end-to-end development flow, VPS hosting, etc). I have absolutely no regrets leaving my old job, and although there's a lot of uncertainty to get through, I wouldn't have it any other way. More exciting things await me in the future and I'm all here for it!
