The Quantum in Practice Act, introduced by @RepFeenstra and @RepHaleyStevens, amends the National Quantum Initiative (NQI) Act to include quantum molecular simulations and modeling in federal scientific research, which could help experts tackle challenges involving chemical elements and reactions. D-Wave strongly supports reauthorizing and expanding the NQI to strengthen the U.S. government’s emphasis on applied sciences. Government must collaborate with industry to identify and address the most complex public-sector challenges by leveraging the strengths of each approach to quantum computing. Annealing quantum computers can provide solutions to challenging optimization problems today, while gate-model systems will be positioned to address other problems sets like quantum chemistry in the future. We urge Congress to advance the NQI, and we thank Reps. Feenstra and Stevens for their leadership. feenstra.house.gov/media/press-re…

Excited for my up coming @ForbesTechCncl conversation with Dr. @Alan_Baratz, CEO of @dwavequantum, the company that didn’t just join the quantum race, but effectively started it. Long before 'quantum' became a boardroom buzzword, D-Wave was making history. In 2011, they became the first company in the world to deliver a commercial quantum computer to a customer, a milestone that moved quantum theory out of the lab and into the enterprise. Today, under Dr. Baratz’s leadership, D-Wave continues to be the industry’s pragmatist, focusing on real-world optimization problems for the Global 2000.

D-Wave, @anduriltech, and Davidson Tech set out to pressure-test quantum against real defense problems — and the results show that annealing quantum computing can be used today for mission-critical applications, enabling faster, more informed decision-making for complex air and missile defense planning challenges.
