@Mattxduchak @The11kaj @trevortombe At no point did Horgan concede to TMX, he fought it to the bitter end and lost. Trudeau couldve done the same to Legault, but the votes there are more important 🤷‍♂️ Structurally Energy East is simpler because the landscapes forgiving, BC isnt.

@andrew_leach Yah upfront capex but low opex/bbl and low sustaining capex/bbl. Keeps the shitcos out which is honestly a good thing but any large or medium cap can justify it as weve seen. We didnt more than double our oil production this millenium by not being profitable.

@ericwolf3784 Sure. But then you also ignore the challenging parts of an oil sands project: large, upfront investment per future bbl, long timelines both to first and last oil, etc. It's a very different capital commitment.

@Mattxduchak @The11kaj @trevortombe Trudeau was never going to force an oil pipeline through Quebec the way he did on BC. Thats why TC pulled the plug You need to realize the difference between Oil and Gas is night and day politically.

@The11kaj @ericwolf3784 @trevortombe Same, but we’ve alway played the role of dutiful ally and will continue to do so. The US being the selfish cunts that they are won’t change who Canadians are. Well, unless you’re a koolaid drinker

@The11kaj @trevortombe Yea, too bad oil companies didn’t invest in the future. Coastal gas link did, it’s expanding and will now be making bank on it Seems like oil companies didn’t have the nuts for it. Oh well

@Nghthawke1 @trevortombe The prices is most definitely not the same. Western Canadian select is about $82 usd today. WTI is $99. And Brent Crude is close to $110.

@ExnerPirot @Dave_Eby None of this is surprising or news, just what we all knew coming out on paper. 2.5 more years and we will have a conservative govt in BC who will follow the will of the people and help get the pipeline built

Nice 'Team Canada' approach over there, @Dave_Eby . Maybe next time operate in good faith to find solutions to legitimate concerns instead of blocking AB and SK energy development outright. "An October 2025 internal briefing note obtained by the Western Standard under B.C.’s freedom-of-information laws and heavily redacted under sections 12, 13 and 17 — titled “Action to Respond to Alberta’s Proposed Oil Pipeline” — explicitly states that “Alberta is keen to get the project approved in the current environment” and orders officials to “mount the counter case”".

@andrew_leach Ive been consistent that free market rules should apply. Whether we take part in the free market (ala Equinor) or not. Up front capital costs are extreme but between royalty structure and among industry lowest capex to maintain production levels its highly attractive for majors.

@ericwolf3784 So, you were mad at it when you thought it was a barrier and mad at it when it was a subsidy? Also, oil sands full cycle costs are still relatively high. Variable costs are much lower.

@andrew_leach Even a pro-oil guy like me cant begin to support a taxpayer subsidy to oil prices 🤣 Sometimes markets go down and we endure pain. Because of that in 2014 weve transformed Oilsands from one of the highest cost producers to one of the lowest cost.

@ericwolf3784 It was not a forced high selling price. It was a consumer charge to subsidize oil sands production. If you look at what happened to prices (and oil sands investment) after the early 1980s, you'll understand how this would have changed matters.

@miketgould Ugh, yes he is.. You’re literally a massive homer. Zeev was a top 5 NHL affiliated prospect coming into the season and has had a much better draft + 2 season than Parekh.

Calgary lost Tkachuk/Gaudreau in 2022, it’s not 2026 and their best young piece is Zayne Parekh. Van started their rebuild in Dec 2025 and already has a better young piece in Zeev. Imagine taking victory laps about guys like Matt Coronado in year 4 of a rebuild 😭
Mike Gould@miketgould

The difference is that the Canucks were already really bad pretty much every year they had Hughes. They only made the playoffs twice when they had him, whereas the Flames have had farther to fall. Now, we're here, and Calgary has a significantly better pool of future assets.

My Dolphins takeaways from the NFL’s annual meeting: • Team sees Achane, Brewer and Brooks as its “pillars” but Paul, Willis and Sieler are in that next tier • Dolphins like Chop, they’re expecting big things from him this year. Gonna be a lot of pressure on the third year pass rusher • if Miami doesn’t come out of this draft with at least two new receivers I will be stunned. They like the players they have in that room, not enough to go into the season with just them • every job in the secondary is an open competition • Dolphins like what they have on the defensive line • Miami loves Paul and Brewer. Savaiinaea (consistency) and Jackson (health) will be under review. Open comp at RG • wouldn’t call Jeff Hafley a disciplinarian – but listening to him speak, his standard is unyielding. Players will either hit it or they won’t, but they will be held accountable • talking to Sullivan, wouldn’t expect any blockbuster additions until the team feels like it’s a player away. Not always going to be this quiet in free agency but the priority is building through the draft

@CofRedCentral All depends on the lottery. If Calgary and Chicago both fall outside top 2 then i think they take Malhotra and Bjorck since both need forwards and he could go as high 3 or 4 If not then probably closer to 7

This isn't a dig at Buium, but 5 months ago Lane Hutson signed a an 8 x $8.85M extension after scoring 66 points in 82 games. Buium currently has 23 points. What is the justification for handing Buium that same contract? #Canucks

@MarcLevesqueEco Not sure where a personal insult could be inferred? I 100% agree with your first sentence, but youre meeting 1 disingenuous argument with another. Like so many things in politics usually the truth is somewhere in the middle. But like i pointed out. The timing seems off.

@ericwolf3784 What it "could be" is a matter for informed research, discussion and debate. I'm addressing what it is, which is somewhat at odds with some of the narrative we've been hearing. Personal insults and attacks will get you blocked.
