I’m right now at APS physics in Denver. Surprisingly big contingent from Google Deep Mind. @GoogleDeepMind has been supporting some strong work at LIGO. There are physics professors who are shilling Claude without any affiliation, @AnthropicAI should rapidly figure out how to work with them

Since it’s GTC week - good time to reintroduce what I do at @nvidia. I manage the investment portfolio of NVIDIA Ventures, working with startups across frontier model builders, techbio, robotics, AI infrastructure, materials discovery, energy, quantum and healthcare. I frequently draw on my training as a scientist and product manager for my job. My primary goal is to drive tech and ecosystem integration between NVIDIA and portfolio companies. Which can eventually lead to successful long term relationships. I am most interested in areas where AI translates into real world systems, especially in biology, robotics, and other scientific applications. More on here - nventures.ai

BREAKING: AGI timelines extended as next week’s heat wave will transform SF into a scene resembling the Antebellum South during the summer, with massive drops in productivity induced by the severe heat
Drew Tuma@DrewTumaABC7

San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose have NEVER seen a 90° day in the month of March. Next week we could have several days of 90°+. This will be an unprecedented March heat wave beginning Monday. For context, temperature records in SF go back to 1874.

Guys. I’m gonna start nerd posting about rocks, physics and atomic physics. Potentially these rocks are useful like copper but most of the rocks are not gonna be, they are just cool. Sorry to the minerals enthusiasts.

I want to host a small, ~5 person, 'simple questions for biology' hangout this Saturday, at 1:30p Come if you are a beginner / visual thinker, are willing to do an hour of somewhat guided self study, and want to learn one cool thing about biology! RSVP here (if it fills up and adds you to a waitlist, I'll let you know about future sessions if I do them): luma.com/2ft62qxw more info: the format: we go to a park, and talk/teach each other about biology! my goal will be for you to leave having learned at least one cool biology fact, but trying out this format so no guarantees. come prepared to do active learning / not just be lectured at! please come if you are: a beginner (no biology experience required!), interested in biology but not yet knowledgeable, especially if you play a lot of videogames and are a visual/spatial thinker!

The moment the Ads start working, the VC and tech world is gonna go bonkers. Not good or bad, it’s fb in 2011 when they were worried about mobile and acquired instagram. This is probably going to be a 10-20t company. Funny that the competition back then was google too.

4. ChatGPT is going its own direction Sam has been very clear he wants ChatGPT to be for everyone (hence ads!) You can see this in the 200+ apps available on ChatGPT and on Claude - there is only 11% overlap ChatGPT leans mainstream consumer, Claude leans premium data / devtools

i now am entirely convinced anyone can become happy and relaxed with practice, it's sort of the fundamental base of our being once the knots are unwound, but that might be ten thousand hours of practice away unfortunately. we should find tech to speed it up
