Because so many people left… if 100 people identity as MAGA and 80% support Trumps current actions, and 20 people leave, then 95% still support Trump, thought the approval rate is higher, less people actually support him. It’s kinda like before the election the GOP made up 30% of the voting population, currently they are 27%. So polls can be misleading when referring to party support of candidates.

I know we’re all tip exhausted. But tip if the staff is pleasant, helpful, keeping the place stocked, and clean. If they’re doing the bare minimum, then don’t. But if we swing to far the other way on tipping, don’t be surprised when service declines as they can’t find anyone with half a brain who cares to work in these places. Do what you want!

We stayed at a hotel and went to the free breakfast buffet. There's an omelet bar but the line is so long we just ignored it and served ourselves (bagels, fruit, yogurt, juice, etc). Imagine our surprise when we were halfway through eating and a staff member puts this on the table without a word and walks away. The "free" buffet "costs" $20 each but there's a "discount" because it's free. We seated ourselves, served ourselves, and cleaned up after ourselves. Why in the world would we leave a tip? I get the frustration, serving all night and then chasing down unpaid tabs is exhausting. But transparency matters. Clear signage or an automatic gratuity policy posted in advance would protect both the staff and the customers. What do you think? If customers leave without closing their tabs, is it fair game for the bartender to add a standard 20% tip, or should there be a different policy in place?
