NEW: Transformer explodes after Atlanta police chase ends in fiery crash; 19-year-old passenger killed, driver injured and in custody Atlanta police initiated a pursuit of a white Infiniti suspected of being involved in vehicle break-ins. The driver, Vincent Steele, continued at high speed, lost control after hitting a raised pedestrian crossing, and crashed into a utility pole in southeast Atlanta. The vehicle caught fire. Steele was ejected and suffered serious life-threatening injuries. He remains in custody and is also a suspect in a 2024 homicide. The passenger, 19-year-old Timothy Favors, was pulled from the burning vehicle by officers but died at Grady Memorial Hospital. The crash knocked out power to nearby residents. Atlanta Fire Rescue quickly extinguished the fire.
