A poem to mark the occasion: Fourth Spring for Justice Four years have passed, four Springs returned, Since scales were balanced, lessons learned. The Court of Appeal, its voice rang clear, dispelling shadows, calming fear. For thirty-nine, whose names were stained, By phantom loss and trust profaned, That April day brought vindication's light, A dawn that broke a long, dark night. We think of three, who stood so tall, Reflecting courage not shared by all. Their fight, a symbol, stark and true, Of bearing burdens, seeing through. Two advocates, with skill and grace, Unpicked the knots of time and space. Their words like blades, precise and keen, Exposed the flaws, the faults unseen. Beside them strode, with purpose set, A mind on justice, paying debt. A solicitor, whose focused tread, (Perhaps ignored which shoes were wed?) With mismatched leather, black or brown, Helped tear the flawed foundation down. So raise a glass, or pause in thought, For justice sought and dearly bought. For lives reclaimed, for truth held fast, A vital victory, built to last. Remember still, the cost, the fight, And honour those who sought the light.
