New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced the location of the city’s first publicly owned supermarket, marking a step towards delivering on his pledge to bring down the cost of food. The city will spend $30m (£22.3m) on the store, which is due to open next year at a marketplace in East Harlem, Mamdani announced on Sunday during an address to mark his first 100 days in office. He wants to open five of the stores - one for each of the city’s boroughs - before the end of his first term in 2029. "I'll tell you what is a radical idea: Giving tax breaks to billionaires. Throwing people off health care. That's radical. What's radical is starting a terrible war. That's radical. @Ben_Mathewson So should there be a cap on how much you can lose per ticket? I have full seasons that cost $118 per seat per game. If I cant make it to a game I’ve had to sell those seats for as low as $30 when the Sabres were horrible. I’ve lost thousands. The real fans are the STH.

I don't blame people for taking a big profit off of reselling tickets especially if they've had season tickets for awhile. But broadly it feels like a very uncontroversial opinion that there should be a cap on how much a ticket can be resold for like 10%-20% over face value.

Abolishing property taxes lifts the financial burden off those who own property and shifts it to those who do not own property. Given current wealth distribution, that’s a pretty bad idea.
