The city of Helsinki hasn't had a single traffic fatality this year. I'll be traveling there next month to learn what they're doing and what's working, so we here in Washington can work to achieve the same. washingtonstatestandard.com/briefs/traffic…

@SenMarkoLiias There’s some great low cost traffic calming in Helsinki that we could probably afford.

@SenMarkoLiias They’ve committed to enforcing traffic laws in Finland, including speed cameras. Fines can be hefty - particularly if you’re rich.

@SenMarkoLiias While there are probably better destinations, there are things to see in Helsinki. Here are some things that stood out to me. There are a few cars on the road because public transit is convenient, clean, and efficient. Also housing is dense and accessible.

I hate the "America is divided" framing. Show polls because American's overwhelmingly support many policies (stricter gun laws for example. Abortion rights in another.) This framing is lame and unhelpful for an audience.

Seattle - can we find a better way to deal with our garbage? New townhomes without parking lack any storage for garbage which sit on the street all week, degrading the environment for everyone. Car light neighborhoods don't have to be dominated by garbage cans.

It seems I need to change break pads every 400 to 500 miles on our family e-bikes. I’m considering using flatter routes to extend the lifetime of the break pads as I can’t send the bikes to the shops every 3 months
