My intuition is that similar to the early claims of faster-than-light communication using quantum entanglement it will turn out that the full energy / time bill must be paid up front in order to achieve the result. This may still be interesting but will not result in breaking any cryptography. Nobody has demonstrated that creating larger superpositions takes less than exponentially greater energy (or time) as the superposition grows. In fact, the repeated failure of new quantum computing technologies to scale up is reasonably strong evidence that the input energy does in fact scale exponentially as the required superposition grows. Quantum computing looks promising because _if_ you can create a 128-bit superposition then you can read out the ECDLP on a curve with 128-bit security. To date, all we know is that it has consistently taken more energy and/or time to create a superposition of a given bit-size than to enumerate all possible values of that bit-size. Until we actually have a quantum computer that can be put into a superposition of a given bit-size with less energy than a classical enumeration of that size there is no reason to believe that a quantum computer will ever be cryptographically relevant.

Comes days after you froze 16+ business hot wallets incompetently which is still being slowly unfrozen. @circle @jerallaire @usdc are bad actors for the industry.

I really, really hesitate to call anything a false flag operation. It's a dangerous thing to do. But it seems that the text claiming responsibility actually did describe Palestine as the Land of Israel. No Muslim would do that, in Arabic or in English. I've been covering these types of movements for two decades. This never happens. Whoever wrote this statement was not a Muslim.
