I sent this to one of our investors recently, who is not (yet) based in Austin. As I give thanks today, I want to thank all of those who have helped build Austin become the epicenter of the future of humanity (not just the United States). This includes those who moved here recently, including @elonmusk, @JTLonsdale, @DanielLubetzky, @LucchinettiMD, and so many others. What matters most over the next decade? I would argue space colonization, medical and pharmacological disruption (solving all disease and being able to live as long as we choose), AI, robotics, housing, small business, chips, energy, the fusion of humans and machines (and our intentional choices there), transportation, the future of cities, the future of defense (including with - and from - AI), the future of education, and, yes, government efficiency (our debt is crushingly large and a national risk for us all, including the global economy as we set the tone for the future of freedom and resilience).
