If you are an average person within the EU, your quality of life is much better than anywhere else on earth. Yes, we have many issues that are threatening that position in the future. But those are fixable. Europe is not doomed, we just need to reform it into an EU Federation!

I want a refund on every minute I spent in 8th grade learning that monopolies are illegal and that our government would protect us from greedy men....

JUST IN: 21-year-old dies after workers forget to attach safety rope and push her off 40-meter bridge in São Paulo’s Limeira, Brazil

In 2007, the standards of living in the United States and Western Europe were similar, and most people don’t realize how much things have diverged since the US boomed after the global financial crisis and Europe didn’t. They don’t fully understand how we’re living and we don’t fully understand how they’re living; even when we visit Europe as tourists, we don’t see their tiny, sad flats and their depressing grocery stores. That is why Europeans visiting for the World Cup are going to, like, a Waffle House or a Taco Bell and losing their minds. Stuff we don’t even like or care about is wildly superior to everything everywhere else. We have no idea how rich we are.

.@BernieSanders , it is a time to celebrate. @elonmusk has created enormous value for society by building @SpaceX, driving down the cost of rocket launches and creating a global satellite communication network that has brought high speed, low-cost internet and communication access to hundreds of millions and eventually billions of people along with critical advantages for our military and our nation’s defense. SpaceX and its technologies will cause an acceleration in the growth of wages and wealth creation globally, including in some of the poorest communities in the U.S. and around the world. Access to low-cost, high speed communications everywhere will allow children around the world to be educated, families to build businesses, and life-saving medical knowledge and care to be available everywhere. SpaceX will materially bring down the cost of compute, advancing AI and humanity. Meanwhile, 4,000 SpaceX employees yesterday became millionaires, including hourly wage employees who you claim you are trying to help. The Elon Musks of the world drive growth, global GDP, and provide access to goods and services at lower cost that would otherwise not exist. Elon’s nominal trillionaire status is due to his ownership of SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, the Boring Company and his other initiatives that have brought new technologies that improve our everyday lives. Elon is not sitting on a trillion dollar pile of cash, jewelry and gold. He is using his controlling stakes in his companies to advance mankind. Elon’s companies don’t pay dividends. They reinvest all of their capital to accelerate innovation and value creation. Elon is working 24/7 for all of us. He deserves respect and appreciation, not smears. Bernie, your socialism would never allow a SpaceX to be built. Socialism has only proven to impoverish mankind and lead to death and destruction. We need to create the conditions for more SpaceXs to be built, not attack the great entrepreneurs who are helping to advance our country.

@interstatejuche Nothing Elon does suggests that he is aware of this. He could easily be the right wing Soros but how many prosecutors do you see him funding?

A trillionair, yet his name does not appear on a single school, university, library, museum wing, hospital, stadium, arena, airport, or endowed chairs. What a colossal waste of a human lifetime.

I think the SpaceX IPO was essentially an exit and liquidity event for a wildly overvalued company, and that Musk’s wealth generally is wildly overstated. I also think these recent developments have nothing to do with a lifetime of poor choices and zero personal accountability.

Elon Musk didn’t become the world’s first trillionaire alone. Taxpayers helped build the empire that made it possible. bit.ly/4oq0mji

i'm surprised that someone who joined a $2T company 25 years ago to serve as coo is only worth $1.3B

Astonishing Telegraph story.

If he’d hired Elon to build his high-speed rail project, it would have been finished by now, instead of moldering, unbuilt, as a symbol of government incompetence and waste

“Give up the failed experiment of the last six years.” UC faculty in the humanities, social sciences, and professional schools are supporting their STEM colleagues with a new letter calling for a return to standardized tests in admissions.

"My proceeds from PayPal were $180m . I put $100m in @SpaceX , $70m in @Tesla and $10m in Solar City. I had to borrow money for rent" —Elon Musk ( from 2008 after the third consecutive failure of his Falcon 1 rocket) How many people can do this? give me a percentage

The Popehat trajectory has been something to watch
