A month later, the state crime lab finally tested it properly and confirmed it was nothing but tomato sauce.

because it's logically inconsistent garbage we live in a deterministic reality. you are who you are because of what you were born with, what happened in your first minute, first day, first year, and every moment since. genes, environment, experiences - all of it adds up to the only person you could possibly be. same for everyone else so the concept of "deserves credit" is already nonsensical. nobody "deserves" anything. we're all just the products of causes we didn't choose but here's where it gets interesting: attributing cause is still useful. some nodes in the causal web have vastly more impact than others imagine a river. millions of water molecules, all flowing together. you could say "every molecule contributes equally to the river reaching the sea." technically true. but then a boulder lands in the middle and redirects the entire flow into a new valley. the boulder didn't "deserve" to matter more. it just did. that's what cause means elon is a boulder. the thousands of engineers at spacex are water molecules. without them, nothing moves. but without him, they'd be flowing in a different direction entirely - probably working on cost-plus contracts at boeing, building rockets that don't land "the workers deserve credit too" - sure, in the sense that they're part of the causal chain. but pretending their causal weight is equal to the person who redirected the entire river is just cope from people who've never redirected anything
