@NDJONES23 @philzfactz @peskyislanders You keep saying 2.7m but until he buys out Palat, it’s more than double. And if he does a buyout (which I doubt), you just extended into the next year at 1.7m. So now it’s 6m or 4m more than keeping Tsyplakov.

@19consecutive You don’t buyout $3-4m players. You burying them in the AHL. Darche won’t buyout Palat; he traded for him while helping out a rival. He’ll keep him for half a year and trade him with retention to a SC contender.

If the #Isles buyout Mayfield, Palat, and Engvall, they’d clear $12.5M in cap commitments this off season. That would leave them with a combined dead cap hit of: 2026-27 & 2027-28: $4.17M 2028-29 and beyond: $2.17M So in 2026-27, the net cap savings would be about $8.33M, making the projected cap space roughly $24.45M. It’s obviously not ideal to go this route, but that’s a pretty meaningful amount of cap flexibility added to reshape the roster fast.
