@nin10doland Also just for fun and to see how wrong I am in the future: 1. Kirby, Mario Party, Xenoblade, and 2D Metroid in 2027 2. Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and 3D Zelda in 2028 to mid 2029 3. Pikmin, 2D Mario, 2D Zelda, DKC, and Mario & Luigi in late 2029 or beyond

@nin10doland Here’s my guess on the order each series will get a new game: 1. Star Fox 2. Luigi’s Mansion 3. 3D Mario 4.Mario Maker 5. F-Zero 6. Smash 7. Punch Out 8. Kid Icarus 9. Mother 2 and 3 could be switched around, as could 5 and 6. 8 and 9 will probably be remakes if they happen.

@TheJoshMan07 I’d love to see another 3D Mario set in space but I’d want to see the idea reimagined. Galaxy 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games but the concept of Mario in space has so much potential outside the Galaxy format. Maybe a sandbox style game with larger, fully explorable planets

I’ll never understand this weird infatuation people have with Galaxy 3. Galaxy is the last 3D Mario game that needs ANOTHER sequel. And I don’t see how a new fully original game wouldn’t be preferable.

@ZeldasBreakfast I feel like the next Zelda is going to have a greater focus on the ocean, sailing, and underwater exploration since that’s a facet of the series we haven’t seen in an open air game yet and it has a lot of unexplored potential. The Legend of Zelda: Distant Tides

@DVADigital323 It will almost certainly use the BotW engine if it’s a from the ground remake, as will the next original Zelda game for Switch 2. It being in the same engine doesn’t mean it’ll look or play like BotW though. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess also share an engine.

@SlLENTPRINCESS I still think Purah should have been the sage of shadow with a shadow temple that you could have taken on after completing the other regional phenomena. It would have give Purah more to do and I’d love to see a modern attempt at a genuinely creepy dungeon.

@_sn_n The solution to this problem isn’t to give up and leave helping people to private corporations who have no incentive to help anyone but themselves, it’s to create a better, more competent government that is actually capable of helping its people

@invis4yo The ones that support him are fully aware. They believe that the rest of the world has taken advantage of us and is out to get us so to them it’s a good thing that he’s driving a wedge between America and everyone else. The conservative brain runs on fear, distrust, and paranoia

@4iiEiie3304 @TheSwitchForce @MyNintendoNews @PlayerEssence This is obviously AI but I like the idea of a 3D Mario with a superhero theme. Set it in a giant city environment, sort of like New Donk City but much bigger and more varied, and bring back the cape so Mario can use momentum to fly/glide and run up buildings.

@AdriWindGB I still prefer Wonder because it has more interesting and creative level gimmicks (and I like the badge system even though it needs some work) but I’d be much more inclined to replay the NSMB games if each one had more of its own identity

@AdriWindGB Unironically aura is exactly what NSMB needed. The core design was great but everything was wrapped in such a bland package. If Nintendo kept the level designs identical but replaced the world themes and enemy designs with more original stuff they’d be remembered as classics.

@mariotwtconfess Odyssey isn’t any less Mario than 64 or Sunshine were. It’s very clearly the next step in the branch of Mario games that started with 64. 3D Land+World are 3D Mario games that follow the same branch as the 2D games and the Galaxy games are an offshoot somewhere in between.

"I still don't know what Super Mario Odyssey has anything to do with Mario. It's just an open world platformer but with Mario in it. Where are the power ups from SM64, SMG1+2, 3D Land+World? Not a bad game, just not Mario"

@MoofusHasPassed Zelda did this perfectly, minus the dungeons. Pokemon less so, but it’s always been a series about exploring, encountering Pokemon, and building your own team, so an open world still makes sense even if they haven’t gotten it right yet. But yeah, open world Metroid is a bad fit.

@MoofusHasPassed There’s been a (justified) pushback against open worlds lately, but a lot of Nintendo’s biggest series like Zelda, Pokemon, and 3D Mario are especially suited for open worlds. The key is designing the open world around the series instead of forcing the series into an open world.

Based on a new interview in Famitsu, it sounds like Retro Studios had to make the best of a bad situation with Metroid Prime 4. They were given a vision to work with that wasn't really their own and yet they still made one of the best looking games on Switch or Switch 2: “At the start of the project, perhaps due to the influence of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, we saw a lot of comments on the internet saying ‘we want to play an open-world Metroid’. However, Metroid’s core element of ‘increasing the amount of explorable areas by unlocking powers’ is not very compatible with the ‘freedom to go anywhere from the beginning’ of open worlds. Thus we thought to design a limited area that could be freely explored, and have that be a hub that could connect to other areas. Then we thought that if one could move around on the bike in a satisfying way in that area, it could be a segment that mitigates the tension from exploration, and paces the whole game. In the end, the game took much longer than expected to finish, and we realized that players’ impressions toward open-world games had changed. That being said, development had already been reset once before (when we started again from scratch with Retro Studios) so backtracking development again was out of the question, and we resolved to move forward with our original vision. During this time, shooting games and action games went through evolutions, with an increase in game speed in particular, but taking in those changes would have made it difficult to construct the tempo of an adventure game, so we actively chose to not take them into account. Therefore, I think this game is pretty much divorced from the changing of times.” nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-discu…

@BoundaryBreak It seems like Tanabe is the common denominator between a lot of Nintendo’s more hated games. Sticker Star, Federation Force, Chibi Robo Zip Lash. He seems like the sort of producer that’s very hands on, like Miyamoto, but his meddling only ever seems to make things worse

@SuperButterBuns That said, I can’t think of a way to remedy the issue without going against the point of an awards show. Limiting the number of awards a game can win makes everything less fair (not that it’s “fair” now, but that would just create more problems)

@SuperButterBuns I think this is just a general issue for awards shows. EX33 is great and plenty deserving but it’s a little counterintuitive for an event that’s supposed to be a celebration of the entire medium to get swept by one game when so many other incredible games also came out this year

As much as I loved EX33 I do think the Game Awards should implement a sweeps policy moving forward. Three awards for one game limit or something just so other folks can get the limelight ya feel

@saniyafosho I don’t think most people are aware of what most Jewish kids are taught about Israel and Zionism growing up. Yes, he was ignorant and uneducated, but assuming that he genuinely believed that those stickers equated to killing babies and genocide at the time is just deeply cynical

@AgainstAtheismX I have no interest in attacking Christ or any other gods. Actually, I find the historical figure of Jesus fascinating and I agree with many of his teachings. I simply haven’t seen enough evidence to sway me into believing that he is the son of god or that any god exists
