The urgency and impact of Drone as First Responder is so high that it’s fairly common for DFR training sessions right after a dock is installed to become actual missions. That’s exactly what happened here at @MiamiBeachPD. After a reported battery on Ocean Drive, the MBPD operator responded using DFR Command to send X10 to the scene and search for the suspect. Based on the description provided by witnesses, the pilot quickly located the individual and helped guide officers on the ground to her location, where she was apprehended without incident. @FAANews has announced that for the first time, it has authorized two drone companies to operate commercial drone flights without visual observers. #SmallUAVCoalition members @Wing and @zipline will simultaneously conduct drone deliveries in the Dallas area, employing UTM tech.
