@BristOliver I first discovered Old Sodbury when walking the Cotswold Way in my early 20s. I knew immediately it was where I needed to retire to: to be on brand. Send up the mathematician's bat signal if you ever do get here.

@thomasforth Woah that is a fine UI. I used to ask designer job candidates to sketch an interface for a potential microwave, because I was looking for people who had previously thought "This can't be the best way, can it?"

Now we own the toaster with the best UX.

Dunno when we standardised European electricity but I'm glad we did.

Has anyone written an examination of the Effective Altruism movement that is neither dunking on it nor a puff piece?

@NathanpmYoung @stianwestlake So I work exclusively with 'non-EA' funding organisation, i.e regular funders. What I'm trying to do is to learn enough about the approaches, the projects, the strengths, the weaknesses that I can explain it better to that sort of organisation.

@stianwestlake @steiny So sorting by upvotes gives some very high quality articles. Tom, do you want a review of the movement or a look at interventions or what?

@stianwestlake Thanks. I was asking partly because the forums are so vast it's hard to know where to start.

@steiny I realise this isn't as helpful as a link to an article, but there's a tonne of self-criticism from EAs themselves that might be relevant here. (Indeed, the movement's interest in self-criticism is something of a running joke.)
