@1FlyGuyP i found mine at a pawn shop. im pretty sure they thought it was a psp. but garage sales, etc are also good for this kind of stuff.

i've been playing this thing multiple hours every day for over a week now and i genuinely think it might be one of the coolest consoles ever made. such a shame it flopped like that (even if the reasons are obvious). it couldve been so much more.

@1FlyGuyP modding them is very easy. i personally wouldnt get too caught up on choosing between a 1000 or 2000. theyre both great. just find one for a good deal, youtube tutorial mod it, stick in a sd card and have fun.

@terrafically Crazy, I’ve been wanting to buy a modded one recently. Where should I go?

@PabloSantin_ mine holds for about 4-6 hours roughly. which i've heard is normal. if yours is draining under a few hours consistently you might just want to replace the battery, yeah. it couldnt be too hard, i'd imagine. local repair shop would probably do it cheap if its not just a hotswap.

@terrafically Mine doesnt hold up in battery :( It drains a lot, do I need to swap batteries or something?

@brambletale yeah! i only stuck a 128gb in it but that should be plenty if i delete games i finish and dont plan to replay. also got a screen protector and a case lol. i plan on carrying it around with me until it breaks. and even then i'll probably just get it fixed and keep it moving lmao

@terrafically i would say objectively hybrid handhelds like the switch and the steam deck are better but man. i miss dedicated bespoke handhelds like this... the vita was so cool miss being able to put these things in my pocket

@ItsValterra the ability to run things natively is a really big deal. a lot of the games on here look pretty dang good. there are a number of amazing games on here but i wish they had explored what the vita is really capable of a bit more lol

@ClarkCurton absolutely. that and the fact playstation just gave up on it are easily the 2 main reasons why. it has literally everything else going for it.

@MischiefCycles its worth it if you can find one for a decent deal. there are a ton of emulation handhelds out there for what these usually go for, that can do a bit more. and the vita library is a bit lacking. however, with full access to psp AND vita... this thing rips. i definitely recommend!

@terrafically Again your missing the point. People want to play retro handheld gaming offically. To avoid paying to much money just to play the games on 240-360p devices. No one really wants to use devices that have no backlites on offical hardware.

when people say they miss handheld gaming... i dont think they realize theres actually never been a better time than now. these are all the consoles i own. i hardly even play anything on my pc except for pvp games like deadlock occasionally.

@mmdman886 all of those old consoles and all of the games for them still exist. modding is a big thing now too. you can just get a console and have access to everything.

@terrafically Your miss the point when people talk about handheld gaming. The Switch1-2 cant play gb, gbc, gba, ds, dsi, 3ds, and new 3ds games which could be possible if Nintendo stopped making excuses and cheep. The switch tm has no theme shop, no streetpass, no local walking feature.

i mowed yards and saved money to get one. ended up finding a good deal on a black one but really wanted a pink one. but i like a good deal and got the black one. after about a month i traded it for a pink one with a slightly uncalibrated bottom screen. then my parents smashed it.

@lil__olive the switch lite is the answer to a lot of people's complaints tbh. its not perfect but its pretty close. im holding out for a switch 2 lite before upgrading, personally. hopefully they make one and its decent and hopefully i have money when it drops lmao

@terrafically Don’t get me wrong, achieving the means to play home console games on pocketable handhelds thanks to retro emulation is something I’ve dreamed of as a kid but there’s something I miss when handheld could stand on it as far as games go.
