A member of an offshoot of the Jewish Defense League — designated by the FBI as a "known violent extremist organization" — was allegedly building explosive devices to target the home of Nerdeen Kiswani in a chilling act of political violence. The defendant reportedly planned to flee to Israel following the attack. This comes amid an alarming rise in threats and violence across the country targeting Palestinian human rights advocates. I am thankful that the NYPD and FBI thwarted this plot, which could have endangered Nerdeen’s life and those of other New Yorkers. Let me be clear: We will not tolerate violent extremism in our city. No one should face violence for their political beliefs or their advocacy. I am relieved that Nerdeen is safe. Our city must meet hate with solidarity, and meet fear with an unshakable commitment to justice and to one another.

@malonebarry Or...Israel is trying to stop an Iranian army that is sending so many rockets, missles and drones into Israel, its had to evacuate the region in the north. Iranian Hezbollah Terrorists have been occupying Lebanon and Israel is trying to eliminiate that occupation.

Jews owned almost 60% of the land prior to their '48 partition. 20% are Mulims today rather than 40%. But in aggregate, there are dramatically more Palestians living in Israel than in '48. Israel is a sovereign nation that can decide its own immigration policies. Can Jews emigrate back to Iraq? No. Can Gazans emigrate to Jordan where there are 6M Palestinians? No. Can Gazans emigrate to ANY country. No. Should Israel, a county that has lived in the land for 3000 years, take Gazan refugees who want to kill your citizens? No.

Sunni muslims are 18% of the Israeli population: 400 mosques all over the country. 200 official mosques financed by the Israeli government. 300 imams and muezzins are government employees with salaries and benefits. The Israeli government buys Quran books for these mosques.

I'm so tired of people telling us that there is a difference between Anti Jewish and Anti Israel. However if Hezb is able to cause damage:casualties on the Israeli army then lebanon will be in better negotiation conditions. Hezb wants out of war biz, la last battle.

Lebanon is grim because there can be no peaceful resolution when Western politicians do not even understand the situation at a most basic level. They still talk as if Israel is “responding” rather than invading, escalating, and displacing ppl after a year of ceasefire violations

When all major American Jewish institutions support Israel and its genocide in every way -- financially, politically, rhetorically -- it is not convincing to argue that Jews are not responsible for Israel's actions. Not all Jews are responsible; that's for sure. However, Jewish institutions and organizations certainly bear some responsibility and, rather than deny that, should end their support for Israel. @jvplive @JFREJNYC @IfNotNowOrg @IndJewishVoices
