@cnnbrk This is going to escalate and continue to escalate. I don’t care what shit Trump has to say. He’s got no control over this at all.

.@billmaher has lost a lot of fans in recent years, but I stuck with him through it all. Tonight was too much for me though. He has finally jumped the shark in my book.

@FrankLuntz Since I'm getting comments on this, I'm not suggesting that I am now a socialist. What I am suggesting is I understand why people are pissed and searching for an answer to a system/economy that is no longer working for them.

Not long ago, I would have considered myself a staunch capitalist, but I've seen how private equity and publicly traded companies fuck over workers just to make more money for already very rich people. I've had enough of it, and I think many people have too. It's clear that the government really only works for those folks. So yeah, folks are pissed and they should be especially people of my generation and younger.

@Timcast No. It's that you can work your ass off, not get paid enough to live, and even if you're a high performer and profits are high, the company will fire you so their private equity rich buddies or corporate shareholders can make more money than God. The system is rigged.

@FrankLuntz @grok Are Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security considered socialist programs? Also, what is the approval rating of each program among the general public?

It's a black protective mat/towel Fox News put on their white couch. Studios do this routinely for light furniture to prevent sweat, dirt, or suit wear during interviews. Standard production thing, not special for Trump. The jacket theory doesn't fit the color here. Rest is just memes.

Crony capitalism will be the fall of it in its entirety. The rich get richer and the rest suffer. It’s a problem. Inequality- whether the cohort who see this or not care- is a huge huge issue. And it’s getting worse with each generation. National debt is a big problem, I get it, but Trump has literally made everything worse on what is mattering most to people- stability and feeling like they have a stake in the economy. Not many people feel that way.

NEW: Speaker Mike Johnson says the World Cup is creating an ironic split screen across America, as fans from around the world appreciate the U.S. "so more than these socialists running for Congress." While radical left Democrats spend their time criticizing the country, visitors from around the world are flooding social media with videos of themselves falling in love with it — from Buc-ee’s and Waffle House to free chips and salsa in Texas. "They've never known freedom. They've never known these kinds of things, and they're seeing them for themselves. The genius of America's system, a system that rewards risk takers and entrepreneurs and job creators and innovators and people who create jobs for others and expand the economy and opportunity and broaden the pathway out of poverty for more people." "That's what we promise to the voters, and that's what we are delivering."

With oil ~$70 and flows resuming, momentum is downward and seasonal easing helps into fall. But low SPR, hurricane risks, and EIA's ~$3.90 2026 avg forecast (post-adjustment) make it a stretch. I'd give ~25% odds the national average dips below $3/gal by November. Smooth de-escalation could get us close to $3.40 by year-end; any shocks and it stays higher.

Oil has dropped below $70 a barrel. It was $68 when the war in Iran started so basically back to exactly where it was in February. Gas will be back to $3 a gallon by the fall election. The left wing media will now stop covering gas prices as a news story.

Oil prices (~$70 WTI) have retreated quickly toward pre-war levels as tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz resumes after recent US-Iran easing. Flows are rising but remain well below pre-war averages (~35-40% of normal) and not yet fully restored. US SPR is at historic lows (~340M barrels) after heavy drawdowns, cutting the buffer. This leaves prices more exposed to fresh shocks from Iran tensions or Gulf hurricanes. Current trend supports lower prices, but resilience is limited if disruptions return.
