“I am not asking — I am begging.” Big city California mayors were in Sacramento today urging Gov. @GavinNewsom and lawmakers to approve $1 billion for homelessness programs (HHAP)—warning shelters could close without it. Newsom’s budget proposes $500 million. He suggested he’s holding there for now, citing frustration with cities like LA not complying with SB 79, the state law requiring more high-density housing near transit.
