Asked someone from the industry whether foreign investors are still interested in allocating to India. The TLDR: Interest has pretty much died out. India is seen as geopolitically exposed, especially to an oil shock. There are no real AI plays. Valuations are rich. And the rupee situation doesn't help. On top of that, investors who were sitting on gains have taken money off the table and are now looking at markets like Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Europe etc instead. He also pointed out that our LTCG/STCG structure and the increase in STT have made India less attractive compared to other markets that are seeing inflows. If we need to attract FPIs back, and we do, fixing this feels like pretty low-hanging fruit.

Nepal Prime Minister introduces strict reforms to transform the nation • No photos of political leaders in government offices. • No caste based politics equality for all. • No road blocking for VIP convoys • All Ministers and Goverment employees kids must study in goverment schools • Political party affiliated student groups to be removed from schools and universities within 60 days. • Government introduced a digital transparency platform called Pratipakchya to track the government’s promises and progress. When will India introduce the same laws as Nepal?

So a religious dictatorship had layers upon layers of leadership that defied war and waves of assassinations but in the biggest democracy in the world with regular elections we are being told, 'If not Modi then who?'

Superwhisper's next update might be too powerful to release publicly. The new voice model is so fast at transcription it started finishing sentences users hadn't thought of yet... We even put it in a sandbox and it dictated its way out. It also identified a flaw in the English language that had gone unnoticed for 600 years. Linguists have been informed. Out of an abundance of caution, we are withholding the update until further notice. Sincerely, The Superwhisper Team

I think we are still finding the "speed-up boundary", so to say. The current speed-up expectations are unreasonable, but it is also true that a lot more can be done in a week by someone who knows what they are doing. I've seen it and experienced it firsthand. All I'm asking for is to not be pushed unreasonably on deadlines. Being upfront about this, and communicating clearly is the critical skill that we need to master. Funnily enough, communicating clearly has always been the most important skill we need to master :P

@vedang Good thing is that products that deserves to die will die faster w/o wasted engineering effort! But such expectations may also incentivize "Razor and blades" business model. Stakeholders are not going to be happy about that as well. And building software will no longer be fun.

The problem with AI today is that stakeholders, especially non-technical ones, expect us to deliver a month's work in 2 days. Is that doable? Yes, totally. Is such software maintainable? Absolutely not. The human in the loop who needs to maintain the software still needs time to understand the domain and the code. I'm seeing this across multiple clients at Unravel, it's assumed that understanding and taste just exists. It'll shake out in a few months hopefully, as more folks realize that code generation is not software engineering.

Bro, don't encourage them. This was Sinhagad Road once upon a time (1991 as per @ameetgsingh and I starkly remember every trip to Sinhagad with lots of Banyan trees on the way as a child). You'll not find a single tree on the road now. All the banyan trees on this road are destroyed for flyovers and road expansion. They will do the same with Nashik if you allow it.

@brianchristian 7/ Why does this happen? Two candidate mechanisms: 1) AI resets your reference point for how long things should take. Unaided work then feels harder, a kind of hedonic adaptation 2) AI removes the productive struggle through which you learn what you're capable of.

The original Constitution of India was handwritten & it's pages were beautifully decorated by Artist Nandalal Bose & his students from Shantiniketan. Today, Nandalal Bose’s grandson & his wife have been removed from the West Bengal voter list following SIR. I'm leaving here without any comments becoz in the Mother of Democracy I genuinely fear that an FIR may be registered against me by any state police of a BJP govt if I ask any question to the @ECISVEEP.

plan mode: "Hey, let's not modify any files and discuss this" ... dicsussion, files are explored ... "ok, put what we discussed in a .md file." ... agent writes first shitty version .. "alright, i opened it in vs code, let's collab on the file" ... plan forms and gets refined ... "ok, finally, at the end, instruct yourself which files to read in full so you get up to speed in a new session immediately" works in any harness, you pick your editing UI, your versioning, everything. the agent is just there to help blow through the codebase, optionally challenge your madness, and do the typing for you. i'd hate for a harness to dictate how this should be done. and most often the agent needs more than read/ls/grep for the exploration phase, as it may involve writing throwaway code/APIs.
David Cramer@zeeg

I use plan mode btw, and you should too. It is extraordinarily effective at helping you bring clarity, and in most harnesses it also helps improve the active context window. Can you ship lines of programming that compile without it? Yes. Except your job is not just shipping "code that compiles".

Pune flooding should be studied as a masterclass in destroying a hill city’s natural hydrology. A city sitting ~560m above sea level shouldn’t flood, unless you obliterate its rivers, hills, and drainage for real estate. The real estate lobby has systematically destroyed Pune, once known as the Oxford of the East and even considered a potential capital of India before Delhi.
