As a Muslim who prays five times a day in her home, I see no benefit from the public prayer/iftar at Trafalgar Square. Something like that can be done at a mosque, without irritating the wider community. It would be much better to lobby for a public holiday at Eid and maybe do an Eid celebration at Trafalgar Square, sans prayer (which is what mosques are for), and that would not only be more acceptable to the non-Muslims but also better for Muslims, battling work and school commitments against taking a day off for Eid. My message to Muslims in Britain -- please stop fighting the wrong battles.
