Hi! Browsers already optimize for this: font faces not actually needed (i.e., not applied to any element on the page) aren't downloaded, regardless of whether the @/font-face definition is present. For that reason, from my POV, WordPress shouldn't add extra logic for that



Block themes still load their bundled font via @/font-face… even after a user adds/uploads a custom font. Is this really optimal? Should WordPress Core address this? It’s why I’m leaning toward system fonts; because performance first. ⚡
