@0xBGS agree on both counts actually. the piece isn’t arguing against gatekeeping or tastemakers. it’s arguing against pretending they don’t exist while running them. the problem isn’t the gate, it’s the sign on it that says ‘open.

@jokawaharalino Additionally, you can’t have no tastemakers, not everything can be on the same level because that’s not how humans work. If you could force that “fair” model, everything would be worthless, not equally valuable and desired

@jokawaharalino It often feels like those complaining about gatekeeping/curation (depending on your Russel conjugation) would be fine with the model if they were on the inside. They’d only tear down the gate to set up their own.
