As you know, ETH addresses are represented in a hexadecimal system. 👾 0xEthereals are the Pixel Goddesses behind each symbol. There are only 16 distinct symbols, so there can only be 16 OG characters. Unique 16x16 pixel art has been created exclusively for this collection. CC0

Ethscriptions, as they currently stand, are all unique data URIs. However, this is about to change. THE BEAUTY OF UNIQUENESS The requirement that every Ethscription be unique has given rise to incredible use cases for domains, usernames, historical images, and tokens. Yet, there are times when you might want to post something without the risk of being overlooked. THE PROBLEM OF UNIQUENESS The challenge we face now is that any EOA or smart contract creating Ethscriptions can be front-run. If a front runner manages to get their transaction in first, the uniqueness constraint ensures that it's the only one that gets indexed—leading to a form of censorship. The prevalent minting experience currently involves sending ETH to a wallet, which in turn "ethscribes" the sender a random piece of art. This poses significant challenges for that minting experience. THE SOLUTION: ESIP-6 ESIP-6 allows the ethscriber to add a parameter to the data URI, instructing the indexer not to mandate this specific data URI's uniqueness. Example: data:;esip6=true,Hello,%20World! It doesn't enable what isn’t already feasible regarding visual resemblance with unique Ethscriptions. Presently, anyone can ethscribe ethscription #1 using custom parameters in the data URI, producing a unique data URI that, when downloaded, is identical. However, it does usher in innovative ways of minting. For instance, it paves the way for open edition Ethscriptions. This solution empowers individuals to keep creating unique Ethscriptions, but with the choice to bypass that constraint, ensuring they won't be silenced. It epitomizes true freedom, and I am very excited for it to launch on Oct 10th!

The time is coming for ESIP-6 to make its way to mainnet. We are planning to go live with this ESIP on block 18320000 (Oct 10th). To prepare for this you can read the docs here: docs.ethscriptions.com/esips/esip-6-o….

Ethscriptions Update: Tokens, Splitting, Dumb Contracts, and You! With Dumb Contracts approaching, @michaelhirsch and I wanted to share something we’re extremely excited about in the world of Ethscriptions Tokens! 🔥 (Note: there will be a Q&A about this update tomorrow. Before reading on, take a moment to set a reminder: x.com/i/spaces/1rmgp…) What are Ethscriptions Tokens? Inspired by Bitcoin inscriptions, tokens have become a huge part of the Ethscriptions ecosystem as well. Here is an example: data:,{"p":"erc-20","op":"mint","tick":"eths","id":"10944","amt":"1000"} Although the base Ethscriptions Protocol treats these ethscriptions as if they were plain text, community consensus has rallied around the idea that holding one of these mint ethscriptions increases the holder’s balance by 1000 and that transferring such an ethscription transfers 1000 from the sender to the receiver. In fact, the community has embraced this idea with such enthusiasm that the current volume of all tokens on Ethscriptions has soared past an impressive 1500+ ETH! Token Splitting & $eths As the ecosystem matures, the demand for trading these ethscription tokens in quantities smaller than 1000 has increased. This is where token splitting comes into play. Splitting is the ability to hold and trade $eths (or any token) in quantities less than the mint ethscription (1000 in this case). That's why we're introducing an official solution: splitting through Dumb Contract bridges! To make this a reality, each individual token would have its own bridge. Given the huge community support behind it, we're thrilled to announce that $eths will be the pioneer ethscriptions token to have its very own official bridge. We also intend to operate an official bridge for ETH and potentially other assets. Here is an example of how a bridge for the $eths token would work: 1. User transfers a mint ethscription to Bridge Smart Contract 2. Bridge Smart Contract (“BSC”) sends an ethscription to Bridge Dumb Contract (“BDC”) notifying the BDC that BSC has received an ethscription. 3. BDC validates that the ethscription that BSC received is a valid mint ethscription for token $eths. 4. If it is, BDC mints to the user 1000 Dumb Contract $eths tokens. Note: this is a Dumb Contract-native asset. 5. User buys / sells / uses these Dumb Contract tokens. 6. If the user wants to get their mint ethscription back, they make a call to the Bridge Dumb Contract that burns their Dumb Contract $eths token and notifies the bridge operator to let the user withdraw the mint ethscription. 7. The bridge operator creates a signature that the user can present to the Smart Contract Bridge in order to withdraw the mint ethscription. We are actively developing this technology. You can see our current progress (not production ready) here: github.com/ethscriptions-… Introducing: DEXs The ability to split tokens on Dumb Contracts is only meaningful if you can trade them. That's why we're excited to announce that we’re building out a full-featured Dumb Contract DEX that anyone can deploy. Specifically, we are currently planning to implement a port of UniswapV2. This DEX architecture will empower users to swap ethscriptions-based tokens, bridged ETH, and Dumb Contract-native tokens seamlessly. Just like our bridge, we’ll deploy and manage an official DEX. Stay tuned for coming updates 🔥 Centralized Exchanges (CEXs) Furthermore, centralized exchanges will also be able to list Dumb Contract tokens. The Dumb Contract token standard aligns with ERC20, making it familiar to CEXs. We're committed to collaborating with CEXs to ensure a smooth integration process. What About Other Splitting Approaches? As the Ethscriptions ecosystem evolves, community consensus on important matters becomes crucial. That is why we are devoting all our energy to making Dumb Contracts safe and full of features and establishing it as the official token splitting method. Conclusion Dumb Contracts have gone from an idea to being live on testnet in less than a month. @michaelhirsch and I are proud to deliver progress as or more quickly than our competitors, who have the benefit of larger teams and sometimes billions of dollars. However, as the old saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day." We kindly request the community's patience and support by actively participating on testnet. We are working to make Dumb Contracts as solid and long-lived as Ethereum and community participation is essential. We have laid out our official vision in this post. However, Ethscriptions is a decentralized protocol and no one can force you to follow our guidance. Dumb Contracts too will be decentralized, and anyone will be free to create their own bridges and DEXs, just like we can. If you want to contribute to this open-source development, join our Discord (discord.gg/ethscriptions) or DM me or @michaelhirsch! And don't forget to attend the Q&A tomorrow! x.com/i/spaces/1rmgp…

Hey everyone, I have some exciting news to share about the journey ahead for Indelible Labs and a new venture I'm stepping into. After an incredible year leading @Indelible_Labs, launching the first no-code tool for onchain NFT creation, and partnering with @coinbase, I've decided to hand over the CEO role to my brilliant co-founder, @RobPando. I trust Rob entirely, and I know he's the right person to take Indelible Labs to the next level. As for me, I'm not going far. I'm officially joining @ethscriptions as a co-founder with @dumbnamenumbers, where I'll continue to explore and innovate in the blockchain space. I want to thank each and every one of you for your support, and I'm looking forward to what the future holds for both Indelible Labs and Ethscriptions. Stay tuned, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or thoughts. Best, Michael Hirsch

How to massively help Ethscriptions on Gitcoin with only $1! Gitcoin uses "quadratic funding," meaning small donations from lots of people make a big difference! BUT: you need a passport with over 20 points! Here's how: 1) Visit explorer.gitcoin.co/#/round/424/0x… and click "Create your Gitcoin Passport": 2) On the next page, click "Create a Passport.": 3) Now add stamps by verifying and connecting accounts. This is the annoying part! It's not just socials though, just owning an NFT gets you points: Owning an ethscription does not currently get you points, but your donation will help fix this! 4) Continue adding stamps until your score hits 20. 5) Once you reach 20, head back to explorer.gitcoin.co/#/round/424/0x… and click "Add to Cart." 6) Check out by clicking the cart icon in the top right and donate the minimum value required for matching. The minimum value is very small and it took forever to get here, so please, don't donate less than the minimum! I will be heartbroken! You need to bridge ether to the PGN L2 to donate. Just follow the instructions, it's not so bad. Is it ironic that you must use an L2 to donate to ethscriptions? No it is not ironic actually, but I don't have time to explain why here! 7) That's it! You just helped democratize decentralized computation!

Ethscriptions has been accepted to Gitcoin #GG18 in the Ethereum Infra category! explorer.gitcoin.co/#/round/424/0x… Take a look if you want to support low-cost decentralized computation! Conversely, if you want to support centralized L2s run by giant corporations, just do nothing!

Ethscriptions are still pre-DEX, pre-CEX, pre-leading marketplace integration, pre-native wallet, pre-leading wallet integration, pre-domain name service integration and pre-dumb contracts. Embrace the friction before broader adoption.
