@growing_daniel Oleg Cassini gave great advice, in his autobiography, about how he stayed slim. He also gave great advice on women - although he wanted Grace Kelly and lost her to The Prince.

@markrigdon @kepano Yes, you need a new vault for business purposes. I have my personal one and a different one for team related purposes. You can have both vaults open at the same time.

@kepano yeah, we are paid members of sync. but we also have personal information so I guess the solution is to create a separate vault? What I haven’t done is try to keep two vaults open simultaneously. Can that be done? I’ll get on the boards and troll around!

All the cloud platforms use your data to train LLMs. Local-first tools are the way to fight back. Security, defense, finance, healthcare, government... the reason high-security orgs use Obsidian is for the privacy and ownership of their data. Now every team can be sovereign.
Obsidian@obsdmd

Obsidian is now free for work. Starting today, the Obsidian Commercial license is optional. Anyone can use Obsidian for work, for free. If Obsidian benefits your organization, you can still purchase Commercial licenses to support development. Nothing else is changing. No account required, no ads, no tracking, no strings attached. Your data remains fully in your control, stored locally in plain text Markdown files. All features are available to you for free without limits. Why make this change? Simplicity. The Commercial license terms were confusing and added unnecessary complexity to our pricing. Furthermore, as the Obsidian Manifesto states: "we believe that everyone should have the tools to think clearly and organize ideas effectively". This change brings us closer to that principle. People in over 10,000 organizations use Obsidian. Many work in high-security environments, like government, cybersecurity, and finance. Some of the largest organizations in the world, including Amazon and Google, have thousands of employees using Obsidian every day. These teams rely on Obsidian to think more effectively and keep total ownership over private data. Previously, people at companies with two or more employees were required to purchase a Commercial license to use Obsidian for work. Going forward, the Commercial license is no longer required, but remains an optional way for organizations to support Obsidian, similar to the Catalyst license for individuals. Organizations that support Obsidian are now featured on the Obsidian Enterprise page. Your organization can be showcased by purchasing 25 licenses or more. Along with Commercial and Catalyst support, our add-on services, Sync and Publish help Obsidian remain 100% user-supported. In the future, we hope to offer more services designed for teams. As always, these will be optional.

@tekbog "we should use scala for our backend" "huh we can't hire any engineers who'll write scala" "dang it takes 2-3 months to stand up even a simple microservice - no, I will not drop the proof-correctness requirement" "huh the CI stack can't even finish in a weeknd" sigh

@VictorTaelin From my pov I'd say the same everyone already pointed out. As a follower of your work just wanna add you are doing real interesting things and I feel sad you don't get the reaction you want. Might take it as a useful lesson for posterity. Your innovation really inspire people.

I think SupGen's demo was the most underwhelming experience in my entire life. Like, we come here, outperform all SOTA benchmarks in program synthesis, show it, demo it, get a bunch of views, a few of "wow that's cool" and then - nothing happens. There is no real discussion, there is no-one coming "oh well yes this sounds significant and it could probably be used to build some quite absurd things and we should work together". But then, why? Do people just think I'm lying about the benchmarks? Or do they believe in me but just don't get why that would be significant and/or can't see the immediate application? It isn't like everyone following me has no real idea of what I'm doing, or is it? Am I in the wrong place? And, if so, where I *should* be? It isn't like I'd be changing the world if I choose the academic path, because it is so slow; at best this could be a paper that would receive lots of citations over a decade and that's it. I feel like an man yelling at the clouds expecting something to happen. I don't know

@yoobinray Yeah, both are remote. I'm from Argentina and therefore faang salaries are much lower (less than 100k). I just ended up picking the higher salary.

@prinzeugen____ Super Smash Bros Heroes of The Storm ... that's it It must be fast-paced, PvP-oriented (PvE is 100% unsatisfying to me), with no/small cooldowns, and many movement, atk and def options so that you can be creative. (BattleRite for example was very unidimensional in that sense.)

(100% off-topic rant) So today I spent ~5h playing League of Legends and I can't measure how much I despite this game, because it is just SO DAMN BORING. Every single thing you need to do to "be good" is always the most boring thing ever, and the cool things that you can do are terrible plays. It feels like it could be such a fast-paced, team-fight driven, macro strategical game, but, instead, the game wants you to farm brain dead minions for 15 minutes, only to get a small glimpse of action, and then go farm again. Playing LoL feels like doing chore, with small glimpses of cool parts inbetween. How are people genuinely entertained by that? Yet I still drag myself to play it, Because it is the only fkin top-down game left that has a major competitive scene. Everything else is either FPS, turn-based or fkin mobile crash grab. I don't understand why there are so many options if you like first person, but, when it comes to top-down, only LoL survived somehow. I miss HotS sooo much. It wasn't perfect - scaling is dumb and it still had some chore in it - but it felt so much more dynamic. I actually had ✨fun✨ I think I will die hoping that someone builds a fast paced top-down competitive game. But even if someone does, people will just not play it anyway. Why, internet 😭
