ANTHROPIC QUIETLY SHOWED HOW THEY PROMPT CLAUDE INTERNALLY. TURNS OUT ALMOST EVERYONE DOES IT BACKWARDS they ran the same task twice. first with a normal prompt - Claude looked at a car accident report and confidently decided it was about a skiing accident. completely wrong then they fixed it. same model, same question. this time it nailed exactly which driver was at fault here's the part most people miss: they didn't use a smarter model. they changed what they told it Claude isn't guessing because it's dumb. it's guessing because you handed it a task with none of the context you'd give a human doing the same job the whole fix comes down to one habit: -> tell it who it is and what the task actually is (not just "analyze this") -> give it the background that never changes up front - the stuff you know that it doesn't -> tell it the order to think in. read the form first, then the messy drawing - never the other way -> and let it say "i'm not sure" instead of inventing an answer that last one is the tell. a good prompt gives the model permission to be uncertain. a bad one forces it to guess and calls the guess an answer save this. you don't need a better model. you need to stop talking to it like it can read your mind

An MIT professor opened his lecture with a line Turing wrote in 1945: programming will never get boring, every boring part gets automated away. 80 years later we are still running that loop. The professor closes with the only line that matters for your career: anything quickly testable gets automated. AI labs are buying old libraries and scanning ancient books. Not for culture. For tokens. The internet ran out. Ex-OpenAI researcher, on a Stanford stage: pre-training has hit the frontier of available data. Same talk, second number. DeepSeek V3 pre-training: about 2.4 million H800-hours. The RL that turned it into R1: about 150 thousand. Five percent of the compute bought the entire reasoning layer. So the expensive half of AI hit a ceiling, and the cheap half still compounds. Labs already act on it: RL runs now span multiple datacenters, and evals get guarded like source code. The token race is ending. The environment race is starting.
