First problem: raw WebSocket connection to a live feed Sounds simple. It's not. The socket drops The data gaps The UI freezes So I built a reconnect manager with exponential backoff first before touching any UI Here's ETH trades streaming live from Hyperliquid with simulated disconnects.

Most realtime trading UIs shouldn’t manage WebSockets directly inside React components A cleaner approach is: WebSocket manager → event emitter → store → UI Keeps transport, state synchronization, and rendering concerns separated Learning a lot while building these systems

One thing I learned building against Hyperliquid’s websocket: Market data arrives as strings, not numbers At first it felt odd, but it makes sense: floating-point rounding in trading systems is dangerous Small implementation details reveal how serious trading infrastructure is designed

What I learned: Without backoff every client reconnects at the same millisecond after a server restart You DDoS(Distributed Denial-of-Service) yourself Formula: Math.min(30000, 500 × 2^attempt) + random jitter One line. Saves everything.

Integrating a swap with Uniswap no longer requires writing Solidity. The new Uniswap API turns the integration into a few HTTP requests. It handles routing across v2, v3, v4 and UniswapX server-side, returns ready-to-sign transaction data, and gets any front end, bot or backend connected without touching the contract layer. @TomWade walked through the API end to end in our public event, demoed it live in Postman, and shipped a one-prompt swap widget called Swap with Vibes. 🧵
