Let me tell you about skiing in Europe since everybody is mad that I said it’s not necessarily that much cheaper now that I spent two weeks doing it: - transportation is fucking terrible. Yes there’s trains. They’re a pain in the ass. Have fun standing holding your skis on the train. - do you want a private car? It’s four times the cost of what it would be in the US and it’s gonna be a tiny not SUV so if you have a big group with a lot of luggage they’re gonna charge you 10 times more. - everything in Europe closes at 2 PM and reopen after they take their long ass lunch so you sort of tactically need to know where you’re going to eat if it’s not on the ski Mountain - there’s like 1 to 2 dinner seating and it’s impossible to make a reservation - Apres ski is wayyyy better in Europe - the hundred+ dollars you saved on the ski pass per day Will be spent in other places. - it’s annoying to use taxis and this is very American to me, but I just prefer to call a car on Uber and that doesn’t really exist there - the towns are much older so it’s a little bit harder to get around than like the well planned newer US ski resorts - I personally am not a fan of major European cities so I didn’t like having to transit through those to get to major airports - if you go around the holidays like everything is closed because they actually take time off, most restaurants will stay open - my jet lag there was a pain in the ass. It was like worse than when I was in China. - it’s cool you can ski to other towns (countries even), but it is a time commitment, you’re out there all day so this is not for beginners - beer is better and cheap - I don’t even know how you would save money if you’re flying anything above economy or not using points for your ticket. I did not like economy so I did not save any money. I had an amazing time so I’m not trying to rug on Europe, but I just think that a lot of people are saying things that have never actually done it. There were definitely pros and cons overall I’m just gonna stick to skiing in the US I think.
