Let's break this down, since you seem incapable of lateral thinking and so infatuated with your own opinion. Colbert has proven time and time again he has a strong ability to write, produce and showrun. He has also proven that he can narrate and command a story with his various publications and his track record as a political satirist. He has also proven that he is extremely knowledgeable of Tolkien's work.
You put that together and you have someone of high potential. Why you'd argue that point is beyond me.
To further how dumb you are, he also won't be the only writer - so he will be surrounded by other talented writers as well.
My only wish for the world is, people gave this much scrutiny for the current sitting presidents qualification.
