@MichaelWBratton@thatSECpodcast I feel like this is a legit take and not insulting at all. Oregon played 9+ games every year with a plus talent gap. Stein was great. Now he’s gonna be on the other side of that for probably 6-9 games most years. It is in fact interesting to see if he can coach up some wins
Anonymous Coach Comments on Kentucky in Athlon Sports CFB Magazine
"It’ll be interesting to see [Will Stein] going from one of the haves to one of the have-nots and how that’s going to transition while still not losing your enthusiasm, your connection with the players and all of those kinds of things.”
@CoachMarkPope Would really value some clarity on the role JMI plays in recruiting. Whether or not you will hire a GM. And most importantly why you believe we’ve been so close with so many players but so few of our first options have actually made it here. Thanks!
@RuppToNoGood It’s now obvious that he cannot recruit HS kids. And now it’s also obvious that he can’t land his top targets in the portal. What do we now believe his ceiling is knowing that he can’t land “stars”?
Also what’s is the worst record we can have this year and him not get fired?
@tyrese1717@James_AndrewRob@WildcatsTongue I don’t think this roster is way better. I think they’re very similar and last years team had more star power which is not a good thing. But this years team does seem to me to be a better fit for popes style if the players on paper can do what we think they should.
@James_AndrewRob@11RyanRoberts93@WildcatsTongue you’re letting recency bias kick in, Pope went away from what fit best for him last year and tried to jumble up a bunch of athletic players and defenders instead of sticking to what worked.
this roster is way better than last years and it’s a roster that’ll be easier to coach.
I personally do not think this is a Kentucky-caliber roster, and it likely will not get much better.
However, I will not aim the deserved criticism at the guys who signed up to wear the Kentucky jersey. I'm behind this team no matter what.
@James_AndrewRob@WildcatsTongue Idt last years team was very good. It might have been if we were healthy and if Jelavic jasper and Trent had been better shooters like we thought. On paper it was a good team just not great. This team is similar but Wilkins, Ousmane Trent and McBride SHOULD be better shooters imo
