This franchise is now literally built on bad juju. The problem with going too far with analytics is you completely wipe away considerations of karma and vibes. Just because you can't measure it with numbers does not mean it is not a real factor. Insulting your fan base's favorite player and letting him leave without an offer is bad juju. Not allowing one of your stars to play in the WBC when it meant the world to him is bad juju. (Don't tell me this didn't happen it absolutely did and you could tell he was heartbroken.) Trading away another favorite when there was no reason to for an older worse player is bad juju. Building a casino in the parking lot is bad juju. Having a dance crew on the dugouts while the team is getting shellacked is bad juju. Ejecting a fan for holding a sign against a failing GM is the ultimate bad juju. At some point you gotta take a step back and realize the entire aura around this franchise stinks and I am not talking about the historical lovable loser aura. I am talking about the new regime that is completely based on analytics and profit. Over time the fans will always come back if they win and nobody will care about the lost 2026 season but the direction they are headed is a cold and soulless one.

"Over the years you accumulate knowledge and you test hypothesis and propositions. So how I think about it today is different than the first day I walked into the oval office." He explains that years of experience gave him a foundation of knowledge that changed how he processed information. Rather than reading every briefing in depth, he started looking for what had changed — searching for anomalies instead of reviewing what he already knew. "I've learned to be pretty good at listening carefully to people who know a lot more than I do about a topic and making sure that any dissenting voices are in the room at the same time." Obama then outlines the process he used to make better decisions. After hearing the initial presentation, he made sure everyone in the room had a chance to speak. He asked whether anyone disagreed with the underlying facts and whether there was evidence that challenged what had just been presented. If there was, he wanted that case argued directly in front of him. "What I'm pretty good at is then asking questions, poking, prodding, testing propositions and seeing if they hold up." He compares this approach directly to the scientific method: build knowledge over time, challenge assumptions, and pressure-test conclusions before making a decision. A reminder that great leaders don't pretend to know everything. They build systems that help them ask better questions, hear opposing viewpoints, and arrive at stronger decisions.
