@TheSalGreco Congrats to the Det who also got 1st grade for being a personal uber driver for a chief. A Real moral booster.

@anthonyzenkus Pretty simple logic, don’t resist arrest. Nobody is going to mistake you for Einstein guy. Professor? Jesus Christ! I see why these college kids are so dumb and have zero common sense.

NYPD Detectives broke this man's nose, gave him gashes requiring 36 stitches and lifelong trauma - then realized they had the wrong guy. Ruining a man's life just cost NYC $100 million. The cops still have a job. Mamdani needs to fire police commissioners Jessica Tisch TODAY.

And when he wins a settlement against NYC we, the people, will pay. At the very least that money should come out of the NYPD budget. Why are we paying for police brutality?

@PeterMoskos It should carry triple the fines and heavily enforced. There should be designated commercial delivery spots w designated hours so businesses can thrive. The biggest offenders are tlcs

I thrilled when the debate shifts to what so much tangential discussion (see, EG, bike lanes) is really about. Parking. Not just parking, but double parking. That's the policy debate we should be having. Is double parking OK? When and for whom? How should it be enforced (or not).

Hello @NYC_DOT If Lafayette Street is reduced to 1 lane of car traffic as you are proposing, how would it work when trucks unload and when taxis and Ubers pick up, drop off passengers? Traffic would come to a full stop.

@esq_sanders As ruthless as they were with discipline and Kelly’s complete disregard for human apathy, no he wouldn’t have been “gone”. Highway therapy? Prob. But how can you punish him? You gotta price he was driving, not based on rear end pics of a car.

Here’s another person from the new police that wouldn’t qualify as a potential candidate due to his blatant disregard for the law and public safety and certainly under the old NYPD structure under Brown, Safir, Kelly or Bratton he would’ve already been gone.

@StreetsblogNYC How do you punish someone for something they have no proof of doing? A pic of a car? This is a new standard for punishment that wouldn’t be acceptable for anyone or any crime.

This NYPD officer and his family are receiving death threats because of manufactured outrage from the anti car, transplant activist crowd. They’re trying to turn him into “Public Enemy #1” over camera violations, violations tied to a vehicle, not a driver. Meanwhile, the actual top offenders in NYC? Still unidentified, still driving, still gaming the system. This officer: • Didn’t hide his plate • Didn’t use a fake plate • Paid registration & insurance • Paid every single fine And somehow he’s the villain? They plastered him on a “wanted poster” to push the so-called “Super Speeders Bill” — a bill that slaps tech restrictions on a registered vehicle after 16 camera hits in 12 months… without proving who was driving. This is not safety, it’s politicians colluding with big business and media to pass legislation with a profit motive. It’s the equivalent of limiting magazine capacity on a legally owned firearm while ignoring who’s actually pulling the trigger. You’re not solving the problem. You’re just making money. This isn’t about safety. It’s about control, profit, and political theater. They needed a face to sell it, so they picked a cop and now he and his family are paying the price. @StreetsblogNYC has him listed as Public Enemy #1 and the face of the “Super speeders bill” yet @TransAlt doesn’t even list him in the top 10. @KathyHochul @ReynosoBrooklyn @agounardes and many others, should be ashamed of themselves! They are acting as henchmen for big business to pass profit motived legislation that does nothing to make NY safer and circumvents due process and has serious 4th and 5th amendment concerns.

@PeterMoskos The problem is discretionary promotions. This cop caught a robbery suspect, sort of. There are cops that do that everyday and don’t get promoted but because he went viral, he gets it. A Det. also got promoted today to 1st grade for driving chiefs, very demoralizing for the rest
