I feel that EDM's aspirations of winning the cup this year are far from dead. After acquiring a top 4 RD, top 6 LD, Mid 6 winger (x2), Mid 6 center, two goalies, and some NHL-ready youth, I can't help but see that on paper, Bowman has done a great deal to help this team stay competitive. Injuries, goaltending, and failing coaching systems (with some finishing woes early on) have made this season look like a bust. I'm not here saying this year can't be won, but realistically, the expectation I have is that: 1. This team could surprise come playoffs. 2. They likely will fail to win a cup this year. I don't resent anything that's happened other than the Jarry trade. Mistakes are part of the process that can help upgrade players, coaches, and GMs. With Nurse potentially on the move this summer, and a heavy indication that EDM is going to acquire a high-end goalie prospect (Levi or Cossa), it makes me happy to see that the cup window is nowhere in sight of fading. It does suck that it took this long to get here. Still, this season is not a loss. It is not finished, and EDM can still win. Im happy we have good hockey here in Edm for another many many years still.
