Here's a 2.5 year change. I've mostly always been a lean dude so there isn't a dramatic outward change. The first pic is one of my youngest running parkrun by herself in September of 2023 because I found myself in the hospital with so much abdominal pain I couldn't stand, lie down straight, or move. Thought I was dying. Turns out I was. Multiple blood clots had blocked the arteries to my lungs and killed the bottom of both lung lobes. I've lost 10-15% of my fuctional lung capacity for life. Was given industrial strength blood thinners to help break down the remaining clots in my pulmonary artery that hadn't made their way into my lungs yet: "if blood starts coming out your eyes and nose, come back to hospital," and sent home after an overnight stay. Was bedridden for weeks and couldn't walk much further than the bedroom to the loungeroom without needing to nap. Took ages to be able to make a full day at work. Exercise was a very slow build over several months to comfortably walk parkrun again, let alone run it. Two and a bit years later, and I'm fitter than most of my friends and work colleagues, and most importantly still around to spend time with my girls and watch them grow into outstanding adults. Second pic was from parkrun a few weeks back. Still lean, and still here. An internal transformation, if you will.
