#StaffSpotlight 💫 #DisbilityInclusion #GenderJustice Last month, Alice Kathleen Lakwech, our Fundraising and Membership Volunteer, took part as the youngest Presenter in a partnership meeting in Johannesburg where she shared her research on Women and Girls with disabilities as a result of the war in northern Uganda. The meeting invitees in the room were inclusive of Canadian and South African Professors, Civil society actors and a few Canadian graduate and PHD students. This initiative began two years ago when she was completing her fourth year of law school. At that time, she had the opportunity to collaborate with Professor Erin Baines from the University of British Columbia and Engendering Disability-Inclusive Development, an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of diverse girls and women with disabilities. During this collaboration, she and her team diligently recorded, transcribed, and compiled the stories of these women into a comprehensive report. The ultimate goal of this research was to utilize these findings for advocacy and dissemination purposes. She is overwhelmingly grateful to FIDA-Uganda for giving her the opportunity to take part. #WellDone @ALakwech @UBC @edid_ghdi
