President Trump will have his day in court but espionage charges are absolutely ridiculous. Whether you like Trump or not, he did not commit espionage. He did not disseminate, leak or provide information to a foreign power or news organizations to damage this country.

@toquitodejesus @BraddrofliT @JDVance1 That’s exactly it. Cooperation is not legally mandated. In fact, you have constitutional rights to refuse cooperation. Either way, the espionage act requires neither. Possession is the law.

The question of whether Trump should have kept those documents is fundamentally a political question. Criticize it, attack it, vote against it. But prosecuting a president over his own government’s documents is turning a political issue into a legal one.
