Kenny Blakeney played his last game for Duke in 1995 and then immediately went into coaching. Worked as an assistant at 6 schools over 24 years before Howard gave him a head gig. He's taken the Bison to 3 dances in 4 years and just won the first tournament game in school history.

A sweet moment after @HUMensBB’s postgame presser: HC Kenny Blakeney’s daughter Naomi (who btw is an excellent on cam interview) grabs her dad’s name placard as a memento of this HISTORIC day for Howard.

If you are sitting with a loved one in the hospital, before they receive ANY medication, ask the nurse to tell you the: 1. Name of medicine 2. Dose 3. What it’s for This should always be happening anyway— but if it doesn’t, you would be amazed how many errors are picked up by being a good advocate and knowing exactly what’s going on at all times

This gives true perspective on who the most dominant scorer really was 1940s – Joe Fulks • Actual: 4,929 points • Team Pace: ~75 PPG • Adjusted Total: ~7,531 points 1950s – Dolph Schayes • Actual: 15,079 points • Team Pace: ~85 PPG • Adjusted Total: ~20,357 points 1960s – Wilt Chamberlain • Actual: 28,858 points • Team Pace: 114.6 PPG • No Adjustment Needed: 28,858 points 1970s – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar • Actual: 24,484 points • Team Pace: ~109 PPG • Adjusted Total: ~25,708 points 1980s – Alex English • Actual: 22,395 points • Team Pace: ~105.1 PPG • Adjusted Total: ~24,411 points 1990s – Karl Malone • Actual: 24,592 points • Team Pace: ~105.1 PPG • Adjusted Total: ~26,805 points 2000s – KOBE BRYANT • Actual: 25,724 points • Team Pace: ~97.6 PPG (lowest of all eras!) • Adjusted Total: ~30,200 points — HIGHEST OF ALL TIME! 2010s – LeBron James • Actual: 24,522 points • Team Pace: ~101.8 PPG • Adjusted Total: ~27,615 points 2020s – Jayson Tatum (and counting) • Actual: 11,059 points • Team Pace: ~100 PPG Adjusted Total: ~12,674 points When adjusted for scoring pace, KOBE BRYANT not only holds his ground—he DOMINATES all eras. His adjusted decade scoring total of ~30,200 points puts him above Wilt, Kareem, Malone, and LeBron. And he did it in the slowest, most defensively grueling era with the lowest pace of all. (40+ PPG Over an Entire Month – Kobe Achieved This 4 Times): February 2003: • 40.6 PPG • 4.9 RPG • 3.6 APG • FG%: 47 • 3PT%: 43 • FT%: 85 • TS%: 58.4 January 2006: • 43.4 PPG • 5.6 RPG • 4.1 APG • FG%: 48 • 3PT%: 40 • FT%: 90 • TS%: 61.1 April 2006: • 41.6 PPG • 5.5 RPG • 3.6 APG • FG%: 51 • 3PT%: 41 • FT%: 82 • TS%: 62.1 March 2007: • 40.4 PPG • 6.2 RPG • 4.5 APG • FG%: 46 • 3PT%: 37 • FT%: 87 • TS%: 57.5 DOMINATING IN THE TOUGHEST ERA EVER: Kobe’s scoring transcends raw numbers he was iconic, legendary, and graceful. With a refined, multidimensional skill set spanning post moves, fade-aways, mid-range jumpers, and off-hand finishes, he kept defenses off-balance at every turn. In an era marked by relentless, elite defenders, Kobe’s diverse and masterful scoring approach cements his status as the Greatest Scorer of All Time

Kobe’s 62-point game against the Mavs before his 81-point game was my favorite. He single-handedly outscored a Dallas team that would go on to play in the NBA Finals through three quarters before sitting out the entire fourth quarter. I love Brian Shaw's story about that game.

Friendly reminder: Kobe had 62 points against the Mavs in 3 quarters. Phil asked Kobe if he wanted to go back in to stat pad to chase 70 points and Kobe responded: “Nah, I’ll get it another time when we really need it.” 🔥 Today guys have no shame 🤦🏻‍♂️

Charlie Villanueva says Kobe’s 81-point game isn’t Bam Adebayo’s 83: “There’s a difference, Yes 83 is 83 that’s fu*king hard to do. Regardless what level you’re playing. Now, here is the difference. When we played Kobe, Toronto played the Lakers it was a close game the whole way, they needed Kobe 81 points. In Bam’s case they was up by 30,25 they were fouling so he could get there to beat the record. It’s not the same. To me that 83 is asterisk bro.” (Via @ToTheBaha)

Raymond Felton on Bam Adebayo scoring 83 points: “Listen at the end of the day, 83 is fu*king 83. I don’t care how or what happened to it. Okay, it wasn’t like Kobe’s that’s fine. But 83 is 83 points guys what are we talking about? It’s only 3 people who’s scored 80, he’s one of them.” (Via @ToTheBaha)

Never leave your loved one alone in the hospital. Every hour you are allowed to be there, if you are able to, I highly recommend being there. Be perfectly cordial with staff. But watch over everything like a hawk. Trust me on this.
