@susandelacourt @MarkJCarney @realDonaldTrump entirely likely they went splendidly.
Trump turning up the heat often signals a deal is near.

I assume this means that the chat between @MarkJCarney and @realDonaldTrump at the FIFA final didn't go all that well: thestar.com/gift-redeem?t=… #cdnpoli
English

@jkenney it is the growing tendency of many, regardless of political affiliation, to incorrectly label their perceived opponents. Titles like fascist should be thrown in the bin anyhow, as they are nether accurate or articulate.
English

New Democrats now casually referring to their political adversaries as "fascists" should take note.
The growing tendency of the left to demonize and dehumanize those with whom they disagree can have bloody consequences.

@CinemaTweets1 It’s funny to me that Gladiator is remembered with such respect.
English

I wrote about this yesterday but it’s worth mentioning again that I truly think The Odyssey is worthy of being mentioned with Gladiator as an all-time epic about a man separated from his family. Throughout my second viewing of The Odyssey, I couldn’t help but think of Ridley Scott. An unforgettable weekend.

@RMC19861987 all these facts are well established. Ian Lee offers nothing but grievance, often from exotic locations while he enjoys the comforts of the life being Canadian has provided him.
English

On USMCA, there’s a reason that Professor Ian Lee of Carleton University doesn’t get much time on legacy media. He speaks more truth to power than they can handle.
1⃣ We are far more dependent on the 🇺🇸 than they are on us.
2⃣ If 🇨🇦 cannot maintain the current level of free trade in the negotiation, it will be catastrophic for our economy.
3⃣ The only meaningful way to diversify away from the 🇺🇸 is with greater energy exports but the “Laurentian consensus” has severely hindered this.
4⃣ If there’s any change to the level of access the 🇨🇦 auto sector has to the 🇺🇸, we will lose the industry.

@BrianNorgard why MAGA so obsessed with expanding?
USA is big enough
English

The next Louisiana Purchase? Here’s an idea: the United States acquires the Baja California Peninsula from Mexico for $1 to $5 trillion.
Every Mexican citizen living in Baja receives dual U.S.-Mexico citizenship, plus a $50,000 investment account.
Then America gets to work: world-class infrastructure, deep-water ports, desalination, nuclear energy, housing, universities, and industry. Tijuana and Mexicali could become major reindustrialization zones.
In return, the United States gains nearly 1,800 miles of some of the most spectacular coastline on Earth and the chance to build the great new economic region.
Is this a crazy idea? Of course. But so was the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

@CinemaTweets1 Braveheart had a bigger impact a few years earlier and Gladiator (in terms of scale) was compared to it.
usually negatively
English

The Odyssey’s scope, scale & magnitude reminds me of Gladiator. I’m too young to have seen Gladiator in theaters & I don’t know what the immediate reaction to it was at the time in 2000, but in terms of swords & sandals, I don’t know if I’ve seen a film compare to Gladiator other than The Odyssey. Both films are on another level separate from Troy. And both feature exceptional leading performances.

As a former waterbomber pilot who used to lead an aerial firefighting fleet, I can tell you “send help” is an extremely dishonest framing by the Canadian government.
The Canadian government routinely blocks U.S. firefighting companies from attacking fires in Canada, while aggressively sending their government-subsidized aircraft to the U.S. to earn commercial rates from the U.S. taxpayer. It’s big business for them and they run it like a Chinese protectionist racket.

English

@andrew_leach or that we were raking the forests 11 years ago, but now we’re not, and that’s what is causing a rise in forest fires…

🚨 IT'S OFFICIAL: Canada will now face US SANCTIONS legislation from Sen. Bernie Moreno going after any officials responsible for the wildfires — wreaking havoc on Americans' health in multiple states
"Air quality alerts in 20 states"
Minneapolis is now among the worst in the WORLD for air quality

@DaveEck9 @EricLDaugh helping is not the MAGA cry baby way.
Smoke from wildfires in the USA often blankets South Alberta and we just get on with it.
English

@EricLDaugh Not a big fan of this, wild fires happen all the time and no reason to punish them. Why don't we help them?
English

@Prominent_Bryan Calgary has been covered in smoke from US fires multiple times over the years but the dipshittery was never as bad
English

🇨🇦 Canada’s wildfire strategy is completely broken.
They now face longer, more ferocious fire seasons every year, yet the response remains a fragmented patchwork across provinces and territories.
No national coordination, resources scattered, domestic crews exhausted.
In 2023 they needed over 4,400 international firefighters to survive.
Now, they’re still relying heavily on foreign crews.
Here’s the crazy part: Canada is the only G7 country without a national wildfire agency.
A centralized force could mean stable funding, better prevention, shared equipment, and far less panic every summer to make sure Canada is equipped for the decades ahead.
Time to fix this before the next record season hits.

@hiramabifMM @BBCWorld Wildfires are a provincial responsibility.

@BBCWorld true. our liberal government prefers spending our billions to help nazi ukraine rather than dealing with our forest fires and readiness, it also support to globalist scam narratives of their 2030 agenda.

Canada's inability to mitigate, contain, and prevent its wildfires must be addressed. These annual fires significantly harm not only our health and quality of life, but also our economic prosperity. I have discussed this situation with our Ambassador in Ottawa, Peter Hoekstra, and have personally reached out to Canadian government officials.
I call on the Canadian Government to fully and regularly inform appropriate US agencies such as the EPA as to the status and mitigation action plan regarding the fires.
I also encourage Canada to work with the US government to find concrete solutions to address their ongoing wildfire problems. Michiganders must stop paying the price for bad policy.
