Manufacturer inserts for meningitis vaccines say the shot can cause symptoms resembling meningitis, including acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, seizures (convulsions), and other neurologic reactions that can present with fever, headache, and altered mental status. They likely either didn’t take him at all or declined the vaccine when offered. It isn’t effective if it’s administered after they’re exhibiting symptoms, unfortunately.

Absolute nonsense Ciprofloxacin is used to help prevent the spread of the bacteria causing a meningitis outbreak in the UK It does have potential side effects, but usually with long courses, but a single dose is safe...and a hell of a lot better than getting meningitis
