Pakistan in a Double Whammy ! 01 January 2025, New Year Message Aslamalaikam After pulverising most of the Islamic Countries , politically, economically and /or physically, Iran is now on the anvil and next in line is Pakistan . Libya, Iraq, Sudan, Nigeria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria ; all have been destroyed. Egypt, Jordan etc have surrendered their sovereignty and temporarily escaped physical destruction. Saudia, UAE, Qatar, are playing their cards well employing resources and wisdom as their shields for the time being. Malaysia and Indonesia are strengthening their economy and polity to ward off future threats. Turkey is growing stronger politically and may only come under focus after it has been used against Iran , Syria and maybe few others. Algeria , Tunisia, Morocco etc have survived certain attempts and may enjoy some short lived respite. Afghanistan though destroyed physically and economically is not giving up and is likely to resurrect . Pakistani elite already exhibiting a defeatist attitude, but luckily certain institutions and majority of people are not ready to surrender. Now this duo of resurgent Afghanistan ,and hard nut to crack Pakistan , that is also nuclear capable , are a bad news for the ringmasters. So a uniquely sinister plan is unfolding. Pakistan’s Army is being weakened by driving a wedge between them and the public , citing Army’s policies , some real and some concocted. Terrorism also being abetted by detractors to bleed Pak Army, that is valiantly fighting back. Economy has been severely dented employing internal and international operators including economic hitmen. A vitiated internal environment has been manufactured where all major institutions have become controversial and political parties are at each other’s throats. All this has been done through a well orchestrated media operations spreading misinfo, disinfo , propaganda with a view to create utter confusion and despondency. Interestingly most of the people have been morphed into adversarial groups blaming each other for the present destruction, being totally oblivious of the actual perpetrators. Establishment, Government, Opposition , and the media etc are all abusing and maltreating each other to an extent that the nation and the polity has been broken into splinters , that apparently looks like one mass but is internally fractured. The plan did not stop here . It has some external aspects also. Whipping up some negative historical legacies and supporting groups like BLA, TTP, ISIK etc a strong stand off between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been carefully fabricated . So now Pakistan faces internal and external threats ( double whammy) of monumental dimensions . Rather than pausing and thinking for a moment that what is happening to this Country , those at the helm of political, economic and strategic affairs are groping and hitting in the dark out of anger, rage and disappointment. Naturally this attitude is only aggravating the situation. We will have to immediately review how we treat each other internally and the way we are conducting our foreign policy, specially towards neighbours. Try to discern between the phoneys and the real characters behind all this mayhem. There are some signs of internal political rapprochement , let us hope it succeeds ( though many scuttling efforts are in full swing) and we stop hitting at each other and bleeding ourselves white. Social media , main media and certain operators ( some intentional and some unintentional) are busy in deepening this internal and external turmoil. Of immediate concern on foreign policy and security are the developments on the western border that beg immediate high level contacts between the two neighbours, before the situation goes out of hands. This in short, is the situation according to an assessment, that may not be totally ignored , keeping in view the recent history of the Muslim world. Reflect and Act. Happy New Year
