🚨 Roberto De Zerbi on the Tottenham fan protests regarding his relationship with Mason Greenwood: “I have seen the statements from the fans, but I am here to save Tottenham from relegation, not to be a politician. I said it in Marseille and I will say it again in London: Mason is my footballing son. When the whole world was against him, he gave everything for me. If the board gives me the budget this summer, he is the very first player I am calling to bring here. The fans have to make a choice — do you want to survive in the Premier League and win, or do you want to complain about the past?”

Looking at some of the replies and quotes. Do Brighton fans not realise their club is a stepping stone? Where on earth is this arrogance coming from? Tottenham could finish 17th 10 seasons in a row, and it’d still be a bigger, more attractive club than Brighton.
B.@InvertTheWing

Would take Mitoma under De Zerbi at Tottenham this summer. Don't really care about age. Good 4 year contract, club needs people of more experienced ages. And also his profile, familiarity, willing to take players on.

Is De Zerbi my first choice? No Is he most likely to keep us up? No Is he the best option long term? No Is he the guy to represent my club? No Is he suited to our squad? No But am I now strangely really invested and excited about the future? Also no

@19_thfc @coachfukuda yea but before ange spence had a reportedly bad attitude at 3 different clubs. but i don’t think he (or most of our players) will have problems with de zerbi as they all want to play his way

@1nylem @coachfukuda Same with Spence… his attitude massively improved under Ange hence Ange let him back into the team. It’s all about respect and I’m certain Spence is simply misunderstood by most that claim he has an attitude problem

I knew football died when he did this and got more slander for the celebration than praise for the moment. This should’ve been more iconic

Gainers from De Zerbi: — Bissouma — Romero — Gray — Kudus — Maddison Losers from De Zerbi: — Sarr — Palhinha — Gallagher — Vicario Rest, for now I’m pretty indifferent. Interesting to see how they’re utilised.

@thebojko @BillyRWebb you can find reasons why any manager wouldn’t work in this environment. we’ve had many managers who’d won something. and sure, backbone doesn’t work here, but frank had no backbone and was also a disaster. frank was not aggressive in his coaching but conte was and neither worked.

Greenwood stuff aside, is De Zerbi not exactly the type you were all after? Young, progressive, good with youth, no-nonsense and calls out the board for lack of ambition. I can’t keep up. #thfc

What’s sad is this was probably tweeted by some young kid who is just trying to do their job, but those last six words are the problem. When entry level social media coordinators are instructed to highlight certain players, they have some level of discretion on the context and captions. The default mindset is always to compliment, so the author is not responsible for the brand criticizing its own assets/gets in trouble with their boss. But excessive caution leads to obvious pandering, which can turn an audience against the subject as quickly as slander. The potential of something like this tweet below happening — a play that happens hundreds of times per game — and is not even close to qualifying as one of Wemby’s “nevermind”s. Now you are insulting your customers’ intelligence. The NBA has an obligation to document its current events and package them into an easily-consumable product. It is the entertainment business after-all. However, the continuous examples of something like this happening from their main channels suggests a reassessment of their internal storytelling methods may be necessary. This type of content does more damage to their brand than I think they realize.
NBA@NBA

A classic "NEVERMIND" forced by Wemby! Defensive impact is just nuts.

@WeRTottenhamTV that i would stop giving my all for them too. and i understand the idea that they should do it for the fans, but from the tv it seems that the fans focus too much of their negativity towards the players on the pitch instead of the ownership at the games.

@WeRTottenhamTV i completely understand why these players would be checked out and do not blame them. we were building something with ange and they blew it up. then brought in a man way out of his depth and didn’t reinforce a bare bones squad in january. if my higher-ups were behaving like —>

🚨🎙️ Dejan Kulusevski on the recent rumours regarding his injury: “I understand that people became worried. But it was really for the wrong reason. It was really positive that I did this small procedure and that we could find the problem. “Now everything should be solved. Now it is just to slowly and surely come back. I can see the light. “It feels better now. I really have a positive feeling with these two important matches and a World Cup in two–three months. That is how the book and the chapter will end. That I am convinced of.” @sportbladet
