Growing up, always admired cork being one of the hurling elites, but the modern cork supporters are so classless it’s astonishing… booing a 20 year old Darragh McCarthy coming onto the field and continued booing every time he touched the ball is baffling #corkvstipp

@GavanCasey Kk scored 4 points in 17 minutes against 14 men and now everyone would have you believe it was a nailed on certainty they would have scored 3 in 3 minutes without reply…

Scoreboard obviously influenced Kilkenny to try work a goal at the end — but Tipp also thought they had a three-point lead and dropped back in front of their goal to protect it. Not as simple as ‘Kilkenny could have taken points.’ Entire shape of endgame would’ve been different.

🗣"Seven goals in the Championship, unheard of." 🗣"The Brazil of hurling." 🗣"Anyone can get it." Susanna Mollen catches up with some predictably boisterous Cork fans after their comprehensive win over Dublin in the All-Ireland Semi Final. #GAA

@henrywinter Can’t help but think a 100,000 capacity stadium would be too big… soulless and devoid of atmosphere… if people were honest they would admit the current capacity is often lacking atmosphere or tension. Would making it bigger not only dilute that even more?

Two points on the Old Trafford regeneration project... 1) Manchester United need a 100,000-capacity, eye-catching new stadium, not an 87,000-capacity mishmash rebuild of Old Trafford. United need a Bold Trafford and it is hoped that those making the decision continue moving towards the more ambitious, architecturally-striking option. A compromise would be a huge missed opportunity. It's a unique opportunity on a unique site demanding something very special. Be bold. Be imaginative. 2) That part of Greater Manchester needs regenerating with freight moved and commercial and residential developments built alongside improved transport links. It’s a fabulous opportunity for a Wembley of the North and a vital urban regeneration project at a time when Manchester was let down badly over HS2. Chancellor Rachel Reeves backs the Old Trafford regeneration project, signalling some state funding of development beyond the curtilage of the ground. No public money will be spent on the stadium and nor should it be. The Government cannot be subsidising the club’s co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of the wealthiest men in the country, or the ghastly Glazers who have already taken so much out of the club. There has to be very clear delineation of where tax-payers’ money is spent. As MP for Leeds West and Pudsey, Reeves will doubtless receive plenty of advice from her constituents. And, for instance, will Everton get state money if they were in the future to request assistance on infrastructure for a rail facility closer to their magnificent new home at Bramley-Moore Dock? Only fair. United stress that while they “would be responsible for the stadium development, support from public bodies would be needed to unlock the wider regeneration opportunity, including improved transport infrastructure and housing”. It’s a balancing act. United will obviously benefit from the infrastructure. But also such a huge development - with obvious benefits to the community in jobs, houses and transport - merits some Government investment. One thing is guaranteed: the combination of football club tribalism and tax-payers’ concern that Reeves uses money responsibly will ensure that the Old Trafford regeneration project is closely scrutinised. And rightly so. But let's make sure something special is built there. #MUFC

@BreakingAlertIE @louiseburne_ @IrishMirror Possibly because,if they did the job properly and used appropriate force, every keyboard warrior in the country would be on roaring about them calling them a private security force etc…It’s a no win situation for the Gardaí involved.

It’s hard to believe this man is in a position of power in our country. Europe is not “BURNING”. Europe had a short summer heatwave in the summer which is not unusual. Anybody who questions his narrative will be discredited while he travels the world (on planes) talking nonsense.
