In 2017 I joined the Pokémon Ribbons Community & in time I became dear friends with Regiultima. He was a beloved member of our community and loved helping others in their Ribbon Master Quests. Unfortunately, the world tragically lost Regi in February 2026, at the far too young age of 29. Bobby was a trainer whose bottomless pool of Pokémon knowledge was something they were always happy to share. His work and research over the years helped countless trainers complete their ribbon master quests. Their kindness, their thoughtfulness, and their dedication has been dearly missed. Their love of Pokémon was contagious, and their love for their friends was obvious. I’m crying as I even start to write this. The Drilbur they gifted me for Christmas in 2023 may be one many of you are familiar with - Aquifer, my very special Safari Ball Hydro Pump mole. It is a Pokémon I cherished dearly while Regi was with us, and now, even more so that they are gone. I’ve thought long & hard about the question “How do you honor the memory of a Pokémon fan who was so passionate about helping others?” While walking through a mall & seeing a fundraiser for a Children’s Hospital it hit me. There is a charity organization that brings gaming to people when they truly need it the most. The Starlight Children’s Foundation has been working alongside @NintendoCanada for over 30 years to install gaming systems in hospitals to bring smiles to faces at times when smiles come at a premium. The first time my brother and I sat down and played a console game with each other was actually on a Starlight gaming console. In his words “I got to feel like a normal kid while playing instead of focusing on being sick”. So, I reached out to @StarlightCanada & spoke with one of their organizers. They have confirmed with me that if our community is able to raise the funds to deploy a Starlight Kiosk, they will prepare one adorned with a special decal in honor of Regiultima. The thought that our friend’s memory could be used to bring a smile to hundreds of young gamers over the coming years brought with it a wave of emotions. Their loss is still fresh, it still doesn’t feel real. Perhaps seeing his name written down will bring us some closure, and we can lay him to rest with the honourable task of inspiring joy in the hearts of the next generation of gamers. So in August I will be teaming up with fellow Ribbon Collectors @1venty79 & @CannedWolfMeat to bring you “Rising Stars Week”! Throughout the week we will be travelling across the franchise to collect as many ribbons as we can. Each starting with a Pokémon Regi has left in our care. Over their tenure Regi completed 45 ribbon masters who got their start in games ranging from Heartgold, to Scarlet. Regi found ways to make special connections with Pokémon from across the series & special connections with trainers from around the world. In their honor we invite you to set out to find a Pokémon whose story will deepen your connection to Pokémon & the fans who make it so special. Shiny hunt a new favourite, collect ribbons on an old partner, or join the festivities to create new connections with fellow trainers who share your passion. There is a month to prepare, so get your thinking hats on, get your shiny hunting hands working, and meet us on the battlefield from August 19th - 26th to search for and/or collect ribbons on your special Pokémon of choice & raise funds towards helping us immortalize Regi’s love of gaming on a system that will bring smiles to kids for years to come.
