@grittyleoriot I've long thought public officials should have to ride their bikes to work once a week. But I'd settle for the Öffis once a week. They have no idea.

if the workers get paid more and they use this money to better organize the schedules, great. probably not. so here’s a compromise: every member of the Bundestag has to ride the trains, or a bike. If public services are going to get worse, they better shoulder the burden/ blame

@kinocow That's a bit misleading. It says more about the public transportation network than about Berlin or the Berlin S-Bahn.

Berlin is so big that the outermost S-Bahn Station is closer to Poland than the Brandenburger Tor.

Any german politics types here tell me why it’s not possible to get direct trains between Berlin and polish cities right now? The “border tightening”? Something else? In true style, zero information anywhere as to why you have to mess around with connections on border right now

When you tell someone from 'the west' that women in East Germany were (at least on paper) equal to men, the most common response is that there was some ulterior motive. The idea that a socialist state could do *anything* good for the right reasons absolutely fries their brains.

My dentist in Berlin is so old school. Every year I hope he has implemented online appointment booking so I can avoid the phone call and every year he hasn’t. I saw he had an email address so I wrote and asked if I can book an appointment for November.

@JMCQ87 @giulio_mattioli @derJamesJackson BSW is just the new Linke -- pining for an East Germany that never actually existed. AfD is trying to regain control because you feel like you have none (but voting agaist your own interests, really). Also, intellectual flight has to play some role.
